Nord One Up Ncore NC500 amps, Class D ready for prime time .....

Hi all, looking back through this extensive thread I can see someone asked the question I was thinking of asking but I can't see an answer. Has anyone had the chance to compare the One Up Monos versus a Stereo?

If I am not mistaken, two Nord One Up's NC500DMST are delivered. Can't wait to go home after work.

@Colin: thanks for the blazing fast building/testing/shipping!

I think this question was answered by Colin, he stated that there is no difference besides the chassis because both options have their own dedicated psu per channel.

Welcome RV to AS!

Thanks Mike! I already prepared an introduction post, but I will wait till I reach the threshold of 10 posts :)
I just got the message that two Nord One Up NC500DMST are waiting for me at home, can't wait to try these out :yahoo1:

Cheers RV for the reply on Mono vs Stereo. I guess the only advantage for me with Monos would be to try each one on a separate dedicated mains spur just in case there's any cross contanimation. The beauty of the Stereo would be one power cord! Monos would be handy for siting the amps near each speaker but that's not really an option for me.

i was thinking of pairing them with an Exogal Comet which might be intriguing given the Comet has a digital pre-amp built-in. Speakers would be Raidho C-1.1s which sound like they could work well with the Nords.

Rufus, The Comet Plus would be a good match, be sure to have the Exogal outboard power supply and for the icing on the cake, Alex's (WyWires) umbilical upgrade. I just heard the Raidho 4.1s at RMAF driven by their $30K Aavik integrated, awesome!

Ooh thanks - I'll take a look at the WyWires upgrade!

TWL Digital American High current power cord made a major difference to the sound. I also now connect the power cord directly to the wall outlet instead of going to power conditioner earlier (SR and Audience), which also made a difference to the bottom end. At some point I might want to try the Shunyata Denali series. I can't say enough for this power cord and highly recommend it for the Nords.

I also ordered the Audio Magic Beeswax SHD from high-end electronics. Will update the thread when I get a chance.

Right now I am enjoying the Nords immensely. Thank you Colin.

Thanks to Joe for putting down this thread.

Yes, I have around 20 hours on it now and it already sounds really well. The differences with my previous amp (Emotiva UPA500) are night and day. I can now finally hear what my digital front end and pre amp have to offer. I am even wondering if the amp can improve more over time, because it already sounds so good. So it is safe to say I am amazed by these Nords :audiophile:

Great to know that as i am using Emotiva XPA200 and ordered the same item as you.

I took the plunge after afew days of emailing to and fro with Colin. He is very helpful in answering all my question and also resolving the shipping address issue (yeah, weird paypal).

Let's hope it will reached Singapore soon.
