Nord One Up Ncore NC500 amps, Class D ready for prime time .....

Hi Colin,

Truly outstanding. Your hard work is really paying off. We'll be in touch after the holiday weekend. Your thanks, success and continued growth is enough for me. I am so happy to see all the progress. It's wonderful.

Been working 15 hour days for the last 8 days making jigs, redesigning etc we are almost there with our new cases.
So the sound is world class, but the case let it down a little well this are first class, made in Japan silky smooth and presise, sturdy and beautifully made. All 2 3/4" high 70mm, Stereo just under 17" 430mm wide Mono Blocks 11" 280mm Wide. Now come with switchable ON OFF DIM LED by popular demand! They are really very nice, Joe there are a pair of case here with your name on as a thank you.

I mean it Joe you have been amazing, Ill pay to collect them and send them back, the difference in quality is well night and day!

Excellent work Collin. They look very nice.

How do we get our cases changed ? Any easier way out ?

@ Dev yes will be offering to change the case work, its really worth the hassle they are beautiful. Its something ill offer in the new year as we have a whole new range of cheaper and multi channel amps launching in December based on Hypex's new modules. We wont make the change expensive, the cases cost silver £100 black £130 extra so ill look at doing it for around £200-230 but don't hold me on that as I don't know what cables ill need to change yet as the cases are larger.

Thank you so much.

I'll send an email. I have a couple of questions.

Wow, that's really awesome Colin!

That silver finish is calling my name...:)

silver is nicer and the black cost about £30 more, they have to do an additional black dye anodizing process I surpose, anyway I have £10K worth in my cabin! the second half of this order arrives tomorrow, just finished cutting the other Mono block! its 9.15 here!

Love the silver look, get them Joe , with you itching for that new tooby purchase i get to try these on my new Ribbons ...

:)

Ok, great. Thanks for the info Colin. Please keep us posted whenever you are ready.

Exiting !! Stressful I nearly put a hammer through them at 10 last night, luckily a friend with milling experience sorted it out after 4 hours of measurements, we have some expensive German Karnasch cutters coming tomorrow of the correct type. the extra length of the panels showing up the incorrect cutters. Luckily I studied electronics or not!

Breathe Colin, breathe. We are all rooting for you. :audiophile:

CheersI have returned to somewhere near normal. September last year I put my first UcD amp together, then came the NC500 difference in SQ is a gulf.

Did you ever get your room and bass issues resolved?

Jack,

somewhat...there were couple of problems with the speaker placement and listening position. It seems that for some reason there were deep nulls - more than 30db. I am still working on it though but getting the time out to do all these is fun and also challenging. I will get there eventually but its probably gonna be slower than I would expected.

Meanwhile, I got a Spatial M3 Turbo S last week and its slowly breaking in. Its got now about 100hrs but so far I am very much impressed with the way it is sounding.

Congrats on the M3 Turbo S's. I've had mine since March and they are not going anywhere. Regardless of the sensitivity specs they love power. I alternate mine back and forth between the Nord and the Nuprime ST-10. If you decide to replace the AZ's with them it may make the room placement situation easier. I use mine with a pair of ACI Force XL subs crossed over at 50 hz. I am curious about Clayton's new X-1 speaker but it is four times the cost plus it needs DSP and four channels of amplification so much more than the speakers $10k price tag.

Thanks Jack. Uhhh, I didn't notice earlier you have an M3 too. Congrats to you as well. Yes, I am very much intrigued by the X1. That is what I wanted to get first but then Clayton suggested for the dust to settle down and get the taste of the open baffle (this is my first) to see if I would like it or not. I had some email exchanges with Clayton about X1 and having a passive crossover (I don't like to go active as well) - he said at some point he will build one but no specific timeline, he also said passive xover is also difficult to build with X1.

On the M3 power, I though you could drive them with low power tube amps and one of the reason why I got it in the first place. I have been longing to get a low power set amp myself....I did ask Clayton about the amps and he suggested couple of them but he really likes the ZOTL40. The problem is I run my system balanced throughout and the ZOTLs aren't. I might get a XLR->RCA adapter and see how it works if I decide to get the ZOTL at some point.

Jack,

Just curious - why do you rotate between Nords and Nuprime and what preamp are you using with the Nord ?

Dev

It seems that the ZOTL amps are building quite a following along with Vinnie Rossi's LIO who is partnering with Clayton for an amplifier solution for the X-1's. As to waiting for the "dust to settle" I agree with Clayton. There are several guys on AC that are going to take the X-1 plunge after owning M3 Turbo S's and it will be interesting to see what their reaction is. In the mean time if you get the M3's integrated in you room with your subs I think you will be satisfied for a while. I got them as an experiment and was surprised how much I liked them. They are a different experience that takes a while to adjust to. For me to go to the X-1 would take them replacing the Nola KO's in the main system. For now I am happy with the two different systems.
