Nola KOs Are Coming!

It's probably the angle of the photograph that is throwing you off Myles.

Welcome to the forum philtax. Thank you for joining. Congratulations on the Nola speakers.

Can't wait to hear more - mine are supposed to arrive in December.

Phil

Phil-I hope your speakers do arrive in December. What are you going to be pairing them up with?

Most of my gear is rather long in the tooth, (as am I).:D

Have had Marchisotto speakers for ages...

Conrad-Johnson PV-5 preamp
Manley 75+75 amp
Sota Turntable
Benz Silver cartridge
I use my iMac as a digital source with a Musical Fidelity DAC.

Probably won't get the most out of the speakers, but we'll have to wait and see. The stereo wish list gets stiff competition from the camera wish list!

Congrats Mark on the new acquisition. Appears the paring of amplification and speakers is the ideal!

Please post your opinion as the KO's get thru their break in and beyond.

Best....

Mine (finally) arrived Tuesday after about a 6 month wait, partly due to the northeast weather and customs bureaucracy. Wow, they are amazing! Also, my wife finds them to be a tolerable presence in the living room.

Paul-If you are talking to me, yes, I'm still in love with my KOs. I strongly feel they represent the sweet spot in the NOLA line and give you tremendous bang for the buck. The KOs are cohesive from top to bottom and by that I mean they sound as they are cut from one cloth vice having one type of bass, another type of midrange, and yet another type of highs. They speak with one voice, crossover points aren't discernible to my ears, and they do have bass output to 25 Hz. Not flat mind you, but usable bass that is perfectly blended with the rest of the speakers. I do use a pair of subs to fully flesh things out.

They sounded great fresh out of the crates last October, and they have only improved as the months have rolled by. I highly recommend them to anyone who is shopping in the price range.

Thanks so much for your insights on the KO. The KO's are near the top of my list for current candidates to replace my B&W Sig 805's.
The one concern I have is how room friendly they are. Do they need a lot of space to to work? I've heard mixed reviews on this
and would greatly appreciate your experience.

Thanks
Cmach

We will be introducing the KO 2 at RMAF. It took awhile to bring it up to series 2 to match other Boxer Collection series 2 models as the KO was not easy to improve and we also wanted the change to allow an existing KO to be upgraded to KO 2. Upgrade is not the best word here-more like remanufacture as the speaker has to be taken completely apart.
8 new midranges with cast frames, edge wound Kapton voice coils, carbon cones, modification of all 6 crossover boards, additional Nordost silver wire in critical places and retuning of the bass enclosures.
All are welcome. We will play any reasonable CD. Hope to see you there.

Carl...thx for the update. What will the pricing be on the KO 2s? Thx

Carl - that's excellent! Please post pics when you can.

The Nola room is like the First Aid room at an amusement park. I go there for sonic relief!

Speakerman Carl welcome we met a few years back at your display RMAF great sound good room . Hope you like the form

I really liked the Nolas I heard at the NYAS last year. I look forward to hearing the KO 2s at RMAF!

Fantastic! I feel the Nolas are one of the best speakers in the market in the $10K range. They sounded great with ARC gear at RMAF several years ago. Certainly looking forward to listening to the 2s at RMAF.
