Steve,

These look awesome. I bet they sound that way too. Very cool!

Lots of discussion about them at AudioCircle, where Ryan is an active member. They show with Purity and Lampizator at Axpona.

The new speaker will be debuted there, the floorstanding DERECHO. No pictures yet, despite my begging.

The $13K Juoles Black is their best speaker and Ryan says they are significantly better than the Nimbus!

yes they are sweet looking and i like the companies that are coming out claiming to give and all world speaker at a reasonable price. i havent heard these but ive heard a good handful of speakers that rival $25-$35k speakers for a fraction of the price now.

im looking for efficiency for low watt tubes. the joules are not as efficient, and also dont look nearly as cool.lol.

"Vapor will be featuring their new "mini-Nimbus" speaker called Derecho. Per Ryan: it will look like a bulked up, floor standing Cirrus. It will feature dual 8" pro-sound woofers, a high sensitivity ultra low distortion 6.5" mid, and the RAAL 70-20XR tweeter and is supposed to be around $8k.

Hey Fred, we're really looking forward to the show as well! I'll have some time to get to know the Lampizator at home, which will also be fantastic. With the room we've put together I have no doubt it'll be a must hear.

We (Vapor Audio) will be debuting the Derecho - 93db floorstander, CNC cut stacked ply-lamination cabinet, and drivers like you said. It'll come in at under $8K/pair. Components that punch well above their price tag will be the name of the game in our room.

No pictures yet as the first pair is still under construction, but soon. Prototypes were built to test the design, now we're finishing up the final production version.

They'll have plenty of output for medium sized rooms with as little as, for example a 9wcp 300B SET. We don't fudge our sensitivity specs like most manufacturers do, so 93db will be an honest 93db. But like always, deciding how much power you need depends on the listeners wants. If you want to keep the dynamic punch and bass fullness, you'll probably want to start more in the 20-25w range.

At AXPONA we'll be using them with the new Purity 18wpc 300B monoblocks."

From Dagogo:

THE ENDING YOU DO NOT EXPECT

After all this you expect me to say I love the Nimbus White so much that I feel like I will keep it forever. I will not. You expect me to say that I will enjoy years of use of this speaker. I will not. Why not? Because I am already moving up the Vapor Audio ladder. That is correct, I have placed my order for a set of the current top-of-the-line Joule White speakers and you can bet I will be writing an owner’s review when I get them nicely settled into my room! I do not look forward to the months long wait until they are built and finished (Note that the website says merely curing some finishes can take a month!), and I do not look forward to pauses of days, perhaps a week or more, in conversation with Ryan. Through the emotionally exhausting process of bringing these speakers to fruition I will keep one fact clearly in mind; If this is what Ryan can accomplish when hitting a hard price point and the current top model unhindered by value pricing is only $3K higher, then I am going after it! Having discussed the design and performance differences between the Joule White and Nimbus White extensively with Ryan I am confident that the move to the Joule will be worthwhile.

Why on earth would I do such a thing? Over time if an audiophile gets to enough shows and hears enough speakers he learns about the designers who have giftedness to design not just supreme but extreme speakers. Ryan Scott and his partners, Peter and Ed, have that giftedness, as is evidenced in the Nimbus White. When he said to me that he believes the Joule White is perceptually 30% better in terms of sound quality than the Nimbus White, and at a cost of only 30% more, I knew he was not exaggerating and I was sold. They won’t be here for several months, as they are backordered, but rest assured you will be given the full report. Are you ready to take a deep breath, calm your jittery soul and get in line?

Is this crazy? Is this stupid? No, it’s what a great number of audiophiles have to do – switch to a speaker that has not been auditioned. Thousands of us do so annually, often chasing the higher model in a manufacturer’s lineup. Even though my rule has been to audition speakers I buy, I’m jumping off into the Vaporous void for the reasons given. I simply have concluded that if the Joule White did not exist then I would be at the Vapor Audio premier level, a lovely place to stay. But the Joule White is beckoning and at a price – so, what’s new? – too reasonable to dismiss. I simply made a mistake by not going for the top of the line, and I’m going to correct it straightaway.

Looks nice, but aren't all those drivers readily available from the DIY sites? Price seems reasonable though.

Cabinet is key! Vapor is a value play, even if the price is not rock bottom cheap.

Hopefully Ryan arrives soon and gives more details. I sent him an invite.

that would be cool. i emailed the company and told them my parameters for speakers(efficient like the nimbus but not quite so big) i got an email back saying one of these might work for me. but was also told that i might need a sub with these.

$8K and note the pic is of the original Jpoule. The Derecho will have another woofer and no need for a stand. It will be released at Axpona and should be in high demand.

It looks like the Lumen White Artisan model.

Hey guys, this is Ryan Scott - owner of Vapor Audio. Thanks wisnon for writing me about this thread, and a reminder to sign up here. I've been meaning to sign up for some time, just too much on my plate as is.

What can I say, we're having a great time doing what we do! Making money will come, right now we're happy offering incredible value and building a customer base.

Derecho will be formally announced soon with pics, specs, price, etc. But it was designed as a baby Nimbus, similar abilities in that it is high sensitivity and extremely resolving, but about 1/2 the weight of a Nimbus. Primary differences are a single midrange and a pair of 8" woofers to replace the 15" woofer. And of course a completely different cabinet. The Derecho cabinet is stacked Birch Ply like many in our lineup, and completely resonance free with a big roundover on front for zero diffraction signature.

Thanks for all the kind words :)

yes welcome ryan!!!!! cant wait to hear some of these speakers. derecho sounds right up my alley!!!
