nimbus white

well i been talking through email to a real nice guy named Pete at vapor, who has been a great help, and Ryan who is around here is a nice guy too. i figured id put up a few pics of some of their other speakers in this thread. they definitely have an eye for cool designs, and with the reasonable price and all being pretty efficient, these are some speakers i need to definitely give a listen to before i make my final decision.
aurora2 did i mention i love white.lol.

Im looking forward to hearing them at Newport and compare to my Zu Definitions (at a similar value point)

id be very curious to you opinion because both are on my list of speakers to listen to before a final decision is made.

Ryan, I have a question. I've heard Accuton drivers in the past and found them a little fatiguing. How have you dealt with their downside ?

Thanks !

I saw Vapor at the last RMAF show, the Nimbus and Joule Whites, but the Nimbus Whites, wow. Meets the WAF but the weight of these babies makes upstairs moving around tough. What about a 80lb Numbus Jr

Thats what he said in this very thread...the DERECHO is the Nimbus Jr.

Got that, plus over in the Audiocircle thread but I need something below 80lbs "" We do have a new high-efficiency floorstander coming soon, bass to the low 40's and sensitivity around 93db. They'll weigh around 120 pound each, cabinets will be stacked ply.

We don't/won't compromise on cabinet construction, plenty of other manufacturers out there who make flimsy MDF boxes. Nimbus is high efficiency, to get good bass extension AND high efficiency, you must have a large box. To make a large box that isn't compromised on construction, it must be heavy. That's just the reality, I don't see us ever making a 60-80 pound floorstander ... our monitors weigh almost that much!"" if my audio room was on the first floor the 120lbs would be ok, but it looks like I have to go with a monitor.

how efficient are you looking for? im running 15w 300b's with s.f. venere 3.0's @90db and there are plenty of watts to run these speakers and the best part besides they sound great and are inexpensive is they are also very light. how much? i dont know but i move them around by wrapping my arms around them and lifting without touching the drivers. id have to guess they cant weigh more than 60-70lbs each. just an fyi.

its not that I'm after efficient, which I know these speakers are after listening to these speakers at 2013 RMAF per say but the weight. A knee replacement and back surgery pretty much limits my ability to move much over 80lbs for a good year or so or longer depending on my progress in PT.

Hoffmans Law is in effect, as it always is. Sensitivity, bass extension, and cabinet size are all tied together ... pick 2. With the Nimbus we get sensitivity and bass extension, but it requires 7 cu/ft to make it happen. Big cabinets mean big wall panels, bigger panels are more difficult to make resonance free. Other manufacturers who aren't as obsessive about cabinet construction could probably produce the Nimbus at only 130-140 pounds, but compromise isn't something of any interest to us.

We can deliver Nimbus ourselves, no problem getting them up/down stairs. We've done it quite a few times, so we have the technique down :)

Now that's service.....:exciting:

I heard the Nimbus White speakers at 2014 RMAF, one of the very best demos, did everything I want from a speaker- and it was very sensitive giving many options for amplification. Most rooms that were better, had cabling that cost more than the Nimbus. Deep powerful bass, explosive dynamics, very transparent/detailed, disappear, 3D soundstage. I heard them in a giant room so that may have helped, but if I could spend $10k on speakers, I would own a pair.

The Derocho looks...JUST RIGHT!:exciting:

They are rocking the room with a Lampi Level 7 and Purity electronics. Slamming stuff, is what I hear. Room 432.
