New Magico speakers arriving 04/2015!

Myles, I don't necessarily disagree with you. I just think the best dynamic speakers in the world deserve the best amps in the world. In this case, Pass XS-150 monos would make more sense, or a full suite of Vitus Masterpiece series amps ;).

I think the Atlas is highly under-rated. As are some other amps.

I completely agree with you Myles. The Atlas stereo and mono amps punch well above their weight & I think are unfairly over-shadowed by the Romulus. With that said, we're talking about the best dynamic loudspeakers in the world, and I think they could achieve better sound with still better amps, but that's just my opinion :).

Hopefully, they'll replace the stock tubes with some red base RCAs.
Fix the cigarette lighter...

I'm sorry, but I don't get it.

I owned an Atlas Signature and tried different tubes in it.

Are you familar with octal base 6SN7 tubes?

Have you listened to an Atlas or Altas monos in your system?

Hi Dan, you're probably not used my sense of humour. I sometimes come up with completely random things which usually I only find funny .

Good move, I think that is a very good value amp!

Not specifically. I am more familiar with 6H30PI, EH 6H30PI Gold pins, 6H30P-DR, 6C4P, 12AX7 & 6DJ8 tubes.

Not sure we're you're going with this, but no, I have not listened to the Atlas stereo or mono amps in my system. However I owned an Aesthetix Romulus up to very recently & have heard the Atlas stereo and mono amps several times in my Dealer's showroom. I also a-b tested the Janus preamp against my modded/re-tubed Ayon CD-5s, so I feel as though I have a solid grasp of their products and house sound. Fair enough?

Cheers,
David.

Be nice everyone!

I would love to hear the Q7II with Soulution 701's! Now that would rock!

+ 1. I've heard the new 7 series & it sounds awesome!

Me too. I've never heard Soulution. I wonder if it's an amp that is good for rock (as well as jazz & classical).

I'm disappointed to hear about the Aesthetic amps being used for the Q7s. I also heard that the M-Project will be at Axpona but driven by tube amps (which is also disappointing).

Floyd- if you really like Pass Class A, have a hard time thinking you'd like Soulution. They sound totally different.

Interesting and you might be correct. Can you elaborate? For the record, I prefer Pass's .8 series (fast, lean) to the .5 series (slow, euphoric).

well apparently a Devialet is as good as a 100k Soulution stack, so you're better off trying one of them :)

i find Soulution dry and not particularly dynamic. but i have not heard the MK2 or what not they recently released. did you like Magico w/ Spectral at Goodwins? if you did, you would probably enjoy Soulution. Its not for me.

Not from my experience. The Devialet 800 ( admittedly without SAM running) wasn't close to a Solution 530 integrated amp powering Magico's. Much less musical. Same for the 800 versus Constellation. There is a lot going for the Devialet line and their lower level products are amazing in the price performance discussion. That said I have heard nothing where it should be included in any "Best Of" discussions when price is of no consideration.

IMO, until you hear one in your own system, you can't really appreciate just how good the Devialet really is. I know one dealer who carries both those brands you mention, he told me the D400 competes with $70,000 to $100,000 separates total package (amp, preamp, DAC, phonostage). And if anything, the Devialet to me oozes musicality. YMMV.

Mike,

The first question that comes to my mind is how would the Devialet work the the Raidho D3's? With the SAM technology contouring the mid-bass output, the Devialet could be a more reasonably priced alternative compared to Soulution, Constellation and D'Agostino. Has anyone tried this combination yet?

Best,
Ken
