Would love to hear feedback on .5 versus original. Mike can your friend a/b with the original?

Already done. Remove the bottom belt, you have a 0.5. By adding the bottom table (counter rotating table), you gain a bigger, deeper soundstage and sharper imaging. It's a nice improvement. That being said, the 0.5 is a great entry into the Kronos family and offers an upgrade path for improved sonics which gets the user much closer to the Limited.
Kronos is made in Canada (Montreal Quebec). EVERY PART of the turntable comes from Montreal, except the motors which are Swiss made and the belts come from the U.S.
What a great idea
The modular upgrade path is VERY clever. Has anyone tried a Kronos on an isolation platform? How does one confirm the rotational speed of the lower platter to know if it is precisely the same as the upper platter?
Louis, the designer, has mentioned that further isolation (such as a vibraplane) would not be beneficial but I can't remember the specifics.
As for the platter speed, each platter's speed is sampled and corrected many times a second and there is a digital readout for each. If they were out of sync the two values would not be the same. It does take a little time for them to sync up (initially) when changing speeds (or turning on the table) and you can see this in the digital display (very neat!).
I currently have a Kronos Pro sitting on a Vibraplane and feel it sounds better than off. I think the results depend on your floor.
