Yes. That's my video also. The KEF LS50s are first rate monitors. I only bought them on a lark (not as a permanent speaker). I'm a KEF fan.
I knew it!

Jax. Quick question. Do you think my McIntosh 275's make them sing ? ( I mean the PMC )
It's hard to say. I suspect it would sound great, but I do think they sound better with solid state just because they don't need added warmth. But, maybe they would be amazing together. I have never heard the 275s. Wish I could give you a better answer.
Jax,
Beautiful system. Tell me about the PMC speakers. They look awesome!
Hi Jax, thanks for the pics & vid, outstanding as always!
I heard the IB2s at The Show in Newport beach last year and thought they were really great, limited a little by the room they were in (they had Plinius front end and amplification). Now that you have had different amps playing them, how would you say they compare to your previous PMCs, the ones I am more familiar with?
Well, everyone likes different things and no doubt system synergy is a major player in great sound, BUT...these PMCs are quite simply the most satisfying speakers I've owned after 20 years as an audiophile. Other speakers I've owned recently that lost to the PMCs include usher mini dancer 2, KEF ref, dynaudio confidence, harbeth SHL5. And there's a long list that preceded those. Here's how much I like these, like you I'm an admitted and shameless box swapper, YET, I've considered throwing out the shipping boxes for these!!! That's correct, you heard me right!!! Locked in baby!
The speakers are full range with deep clean bass. Highs are extended and crystal clear. And the mids, well as one reviewer put it, something I've never heard from any speaker ever. Simply the best. And unlike so many many fine high end speakers, these speakers actually deliver goosebumps realism with crystal clean extended highs WITHOUT fatigue. Sure, they all claim this, they lie. To combine crystal clarity without some element of ear cringe is like spotting a unicorn. Well, the unicorn has been captured. Got him sitting right here singing for me.
Caveats? Well, they have a warehouse industrial look which is fine for my man cave but I'd still prefer the nice finish most competitors provide, but there is a certain charm to the rugged old school, fck you, I just sound good, look to them. PMC does make a new SE version that has more of the bling but still falls well short of the competition in my opinion. The other caveat is I think it's best to avoid overly warm gear as these speakers need no help on the low end. Provide a clean tight low end signal and they just flat out rock.
Ok, ok, guess whether I like them? : )
The IB2i has their newest tweeter and a slightly different crossover. I've heard people say that the IB2i is just a smidge more forward sounding. I've never heard the IB2i so I can't comment more than that. For some reason when PMC updated the consumer line to the "i" version they chose not to do the same with the pro line. There is no IB2Si model.
I was little surprised with the price of PMC
I really enjoyed my PMC EB1i's when I had them. I found I preferred to listen to them without my subs since they had such great bass. I guess I am a fan of transmission line speakers.
I really like both speakers but only have room for one pair. They are similar size 3 way transmission line speakers. When I did the demo of the AZ Crescendos, I loved the way they sounded. Kind of crazy, but I purchased the Crescendos to compare them directly in my system to the EB1i's to hear which sounded best to me in my space. I ended up keeping the Crescendos and selling the EB1i's. It could easily have been the synergy of the entire system I was hearing. I have AZ interconnects and speaker cables also. I am not someone who can accurately describe what I hear, I just know if I prefer one speaker with my own ears over another.
Well, they ain't cheap that's for sure. And they do look like they should be cheaper. The IB2S is like $5k cheaper at $16k. There's a used pair on audiogon for $7k not to mention the huge MB2i pair for sale at $14k.
