almost forgot , what to do about this speaker out on an island , so to speak.lol. that couch you see the corner of is my tv couch, when i listen to music i slide it back into the kitchen with the coffee table. but that speaker is just out there on its own. the right side is ok once i remove the clutter from the tv stuff and hang it on the wall.
oh btw my speakers are front ported.

im just wonderin if i should do anything behind the speakers. now that i moved my listening position back and the speakers back a couple feet, im getting some reflections , just wondering if i cant do anything to help the fact that the speakers are out in the middle of the room. i can push them back and closer together, then bring the chair up closer when listening . just not sure how to go about this. hmm im gonna try that right now.

ok so what do you like better? i moved the speakers back towards the wall, and brought them in from 102" tweeter to tweeter to 94".
now i moved off the couch to listen and brought the chair back out and its 117" from my ears to the tweeter plain. 1.25.lol
first off the music with 15w amps (cute ones :hi is way easier to convey. at the same levels as when they needed to fill my whole room this is cranking, where before i was pushing them pretty hard to get them loud. but that doesn't matter cause being pushed to be that loud was a test and way louder than i normally ever play music. its seems better balanced and has more punch. but i still feel some bouncing sound.
i lost some soundstage width i think, but i didnt use my normal test tracks yet. and im still breaking in my 300b tubes.
heres a pic from my listening chair. then a pic from where i sit to watch tv, looking at the stereo. then the last pic is for paul to see the clutter of the rest of the room.
anybody?? i need some panels?? somewhere?? thicker rug?? something?? lol

But seriously, Have you tried to put the gear on the wall that your tv is on? Move everything over there, mount the tv on the wall, build a new rack that holds both stereo and AV gear, put down a nice thick rug, throw a loveseat over where the gear was, sit back and enjoy! Maybe experiment with some home-made wall treatments and see what happens.

Can you put a curtain behind the left speaker flush to the rear wall? I tried some blackout curtains from Amazon ($50) in my room and have to say they helped. And then some treatments at the first/2nd reflection points.

Steve, I had a room that was L shaped, with speakers playing from the top of the L toward the bottom. With the opening you have to the left of your speaker, you may wish to balance that a little with some diffusion panels on the right wall opposite the opening. This will disperse the sound, kill the reflection, and the impression will be the wall has moved over a few feet. I did that in my room in my prior home with great success. You can see in the photo my listening spot -- the wall to the left was 4 feet closer than the wall to the right. But with the treatments the right wall did not "feel" closer. (In my case the L was backward.)

ok i got three of these coming

i was going to use them for albums, but now im thinking if i hang them on the wall i can just put my tv on top of them and use the insides for dvr and modem and such.
i often thought of moving everything to the long wall, which is 22' wide. and scrunching the room together with couches. id have to get more of these squares and do a cool album hanger with them as well. im gonna measure that up tom. but the electric there is a problem and noisy problem.lol.

now were getting somewhere, my first and second reflection points are maybe where the guitar starts on the right side?? and i with the new setup the leftside is like 5ft from the left wall. i like the curtain idea. and in the summer the back of the house sucks up all the a/c, that will help that too!!thanks

i like that too bob!!i need to definitely make up for a wide left side. im kinda handy and i want to make panels so i can use the material i prefer. but i also want some cool looking ones like the viscoustics mixed in.thank you

nice paul!!! by moving the speakers back i think the imaging is better even though the soundstage is a little smaller, and the bass is all tightend up again. when they are out in the room the soundstage is bigger and the bass is deeper but it is a little muddy and the imaging is not as good. so whats a guy to do...... break it all down and start over.lmao!!!after the weekend, ill try and move everything. :amazing::amazing::wacko::bonkers:

lmao!!! thats why i put up the pics buddy cause i need room treatments bad but i dont know enough about them to put them in the right place.
maybe illl even crawl under the building and run a new dedicated line next week.
i got the wire and the breaker,outlet,box, cover(not carbon fiber, sorry). i live on a lagoon and there are no basements here, so its a tight crawlspace and i hate tight spots. with spiders.lol.

The way to find the reflection point is to use the mirror trick. Basically, you sit in the listening spot and have someone run a mirror down the side walls. When you can see the tweeter mark the spot. That is where the early reflection point is located. You want to do this for each speaker on each wall and ceiling.
You can also find the reflection with a program like REW but that takes a lot of experience with the program.
