Munich High End show 2017

That's the selection I wanted to see and these were my impressions:

- Magico (S3 mk2, M3) in A4.1 F108
Quite interesting, I find they have a slightly different sound signature compared to the mk1s.

- Lansche Audio (5.2) in A4.1 E111
The previously sometimes a little thin bass not an issue with the 5.2s, but it was a bit boomy (maybe the room)

- Avantgarde (Uno XD) in A4.1 E124
Only Trio XD on live display - simply phantastic, very natural presentation. Agree with Mike, contender for best LS.

- TAD (ME1) in A4.1 F118 (Audio Components I guess)
Quite liked them, need a proper demo with better electronics. Good bass, highs maybe sticking out a bit (might have been the mid-fi Onkyo amp)

- Vandersteen (CT4 Wood) A4.1 E108
Smooth presentation compared to e.g. the Rockports next door in a Solution chain. Might have expected a bit more, potentially the not very powerful Brinkman electronics lacked a bit of oomph for a stronger presentation

- Raidho, Aavik, Ansuz (D2.1, Aavik separates) in A4.2 E227
I guess they struggled with the room, as they did not manage to tame the D3.1s bass in the room

- Audia Flight (Strumento No.4/ 8) in A4.1 F122
New Audia Flight separates were nice, but I do not have to throw out my Ayres right away to replace them

- T+A (PA 3100 HV with separate power supply) in A3.1 D102, A3.1 D103, A3.1 D105
As expected the HV3100 with the separate power supply had improved in the bass to a significant extent, but T+A own LS muddled up the presentation quite a bit. Need to hear them with different LS, potentially very interesting.

- Constellation Audio in A4.1 F118
Only saw passive display.

- Nagra (HD DAC, Classic Pre/ Amp) in A4.2 E217 and Halle 3 K05
Demo with Wilson left me wanting, no idea why it did not appeal to me.

- Meitner (DA-2, MA-1 V2 upgrade) in A4.1 E111
DA-2 ok with Lansche, but way better in the Magico room (S3 mk2).

- Reed (Muse 3C) in Halle 1 D05, Pass (XA100) in A4.1 F108, Tellurium Q (Black Diamond line) in Halle 3 K05, Halle 3 N10/P13
Did not listen to them.

I'm surprised about Lampi, I thought Lukas was going based on FB posts.

Good to see you liked Thrax. Any idea if they are still moving on U.S. distribution?

Guys, sadly for me there has been almost no Lampizator setups at all at the show. Sound Galleries has Nagra and Thrax room was something else.

Going to look around again today.

now guys look out for the kudos t606 and tell me what you think . they make wonderful speakers and just might.....just wrench me from my verity audio speakers in the future !!!

On my way back to Sweden after three days at the Münich show. The greatest impression this this year was the guy playing drums and sampling himself through the Avantgarde Trio LE with 3 pairs of the Basshorn XD!

If anyone there can comment on the German Gobel Speakers I would love to hear what people think. Thanks

Lukasz is here. He is sharing with KR Audio. I saw him 10 times already.

I think the Göbel sounded great with both CH Precision and Vitus.

Totally agree. Check out the Munich 2017 pictures thread for two interview videos I took with the designer.

Thanks. Checked out the 2017 thread and first let me say thanks. AMAZING job covering the show; truly a yeoman's job. The best coverage I have seen.

I'm seriously considering their "cheap" Fine speaker as a replacement for my Nola Concert Grands as I make plans to "scale down" to a smaller place in Tampa or Amelia Island.

I am a sucker for the "open" and natural sound.

While the Fine is by no means anywhere near cheap, the relatively modest size also does not fully convey what those great speakers can do.

Yes! I heard them today, along with their top of the line, and was suitably impressed! They image like crazy, with all the proper stuff, depth, palpability, etc. Really impressed by them!

cheers,
alex

Hi Priaptor, I auditioned the Gobel's at length some time ago. Excellent speaker, but I had problems with the bass, this was without the subs. Feel Free to PM me if you want more details.

This is very odd because what we all heard across several days - with both models - was excellent in the bass.

I'm sorry for that... hope nothing serious! Too much beer yesterday?? ;-)

Not disputing your impressions at all. Everything was different in the setup I heard, different amps, different sources, different room, no subwoofers. As with everything in our hobby.... listen for yourselves folks....

Mike (and anyone else),

How did the Gryphon Kodo system sound?

Thanks!

Thanks Andy, I also really appreciated talking to you in person! It's one of the best things at the shows to really meet people and talk face to face! Please stop by when you come to Italy next time!
Take care!

I was always very impressed by the Goebel speakers in the last years. The last two years they played with Analog Domain and this year with CH and Vitus. They always showed huge, deep and very precise imaging along with a very natural and uncoloured presentation. I'm sure it's due to their rectangular true full range transducer.
I did not feel any lack of bass of the smaller version in the Vitus room. For me quality and quantity was just right. The same for the big Goebel in the Goebel room with CH with their "small" sub. I remember that some years ago they were showing their speakers with their big subwoofer and the the room was overloaded with bass.
