Remember, I can only say so much about my company due to confidentiality reasons, but what may to some seem like cheerleading is in fact faith that the directions coming are pretty amazing.

Microsoft adds nine new Windows Phone hardware partners - Yahoo Finance

Microsoft plans spring Windows, phone updates - Yahoo Finance

The future holds a cloud based software world..no more local installs, accessible worldwide, by all your devices - no major releases, updates will be on a frequent basis...

Windows Phone's Office Lens app wants to replace your scanner

Never count a company like Microsoft out....

Cloud based everything is a nice idea except for those of us who are subject to data caps and slow internet service. :S

Since I live in a sparely populated rural area, I only have two options available: satellite and wireless, either AT&T or Verizon. I'm still hanging onto a grandfathered unlimited 3g plan with Verizon Wireless since the price is cheaper and I have no data caps. If I were to go into one of their current 4g plans with the amount of data I use, I would be paying around $100/mo for it. I love all you guys, but you're not worth $100/mo. :D

I feel that most people who live in rural areas are really getting the shaft when it comes to high speed internet.

In my opinion the whole cloud computing thing is the worst thing since square wheels. It's extremely dangerous, you would not own anything and not only would you not have one shred of privacy, but you would also be spammed to death on every pixel on your screen! It's bad enough already. I will have nothing to do with the Cloud! I even had Amazon block me from getting free MP3s and such they put on the cloud for folks.
When I purchase a piece of software just as with anything else, I want to own it, it's mine! I like installing software on my PC that I purchase!
We have already lost net neutrality and the Cloud is partly responsible for that as well. I'd rather have a bank of HDDs for storage frankly.
To has the OS on the cloud is the stupidest idea I've ever heard.
Nothing to do with you Rob, but the more Microsoft comes up with ideas like this or every time they come out with a new OS it just makes me hate them more!
All I see now the the soon to be loss of my internet connection and shortly after that the loss of my PCs and other devices that use computing power and internet.

I know...we are demons.. we invented the cloud, nuclear arms, ebola and came out against net neutrality...software will never be on your pc again, and we fight against privacy every day

For bonus points - If you can tell which (if any of the above statements are true)

I will give you a hint...every one above is just the opposite of Microsoft

Oh..I can't keep you in suspense. None are attributable to Microsoft.

1) We are not demons though people (mostly Apple and Linux users) used to call Bill Gates the anti-Christ
2) The cloud concept was actually invented in the 1960's with Amazon being one of the first to implement
3) Nuclear arms were first invented buy the Manhattan project - Bill Gates was not born
4) Ebola is virus (non-computer) and therefore, outside the scope of Microsoft's anti-virus work
5) Microsoft was a PROPONENT of net neutrality and your angst should be directed at Comcast who spend millions to fight it
6) Software, especially the OS will remain on your computer - the cloud is a convenience...sort of like a cell phone...you don't have to be home to take a call..
7) Microsoft's cybercrimes unit is one of the finest in the world, not only protecting you against criminals but fight to protect you against an intrusive government

I forgive you your rant but please, if you want to live in a bunker, as an American, you have the right to do so. But don't place blame at the foot of the door of a company not to blame for your insecurities. Sheesh Eric, grow a pair. All I ever hear is whining as you draw further and further back from the world. The world can just as easily (and I mean EASILY) get into your personal pc as it can into the cloud. In fact...easier. And that is a fact.

I thought Bill Gates (guy above) started it all first. ...Then a bunch of followers simply espoused his doctrine. ...Rest's hisstory.

no major releases, updates will be on a frequent basis...

Now that's funny. Like there aren't updates (well, patches to holes anyway) on a frequent basis?

On my PC currently, there are no less than 214 patches/updates.....that are in individual backout folders I see.

What about those of us that don't want cloud-based-everything-is-accessible-by-others-than-me? Will there ever be a Microsoft platform that doesn't want to share EVERYTHING?

Rob thanks so much for the updates. Of course you guys are well known for that...

You walked into that one yourself buddy! :P

You misunderstand...I am talking about feature updates instead of Office 10, 11, etc etc...you wont have to wait. This may not be important to you..very important to business. And you will SHARE nothing ...only what you want to share. Doesn't mean you can't store in the cloud. and have the best encrypted security...not reliant on you having to have NSA grade firewalls...if you were that worried, you would never sign on to the net.

How do you know when I post this

I'm not interested in conspiracies. Everybody except us users are against net neutrality and by the way, much of the blame can also be laid at the feet of the FCC for not putting up a fight.
As for me, I'm actually not an American, but that's a whole other point. Perhaps I should consider getting off the grid a bit stronger than I have recently? Yes, in fact, I think I am going to go ahead and prepare as best I can to get off the grid in the next 60 days. That will be just about the time Comcast takes over.
