One of my top five speakers under $100K. World class sound in every way.

Congrats and enjoy!

Congrats to the new owner! Very nice-looking set up.
Question: What are the dimensions of the room?

XA160.8’s. They sound wonderful. No plans for a change at this time.

I didn’t have plans to change my amps either, but, once I tried the MBL 9008As at home there was no going back. :celebrate008_2:

Mike -
Are the speakers set up on a basically equilateral triangle with the listener?
Are they affected much by how far you pull them away from the walls?
Any special footers like Stillpoints?
Thanks!

Basically an equilateral triangle, but it’s not a hard and fast rule. You just want to minimize the room as much as possible. The further away you sit, just like with most speakers (except horns or dipoles), the more the room comes into play. Ideally, you want to minimize the room and optimize the seating position. The further away you sit, just like with cones & domes, the more of the room you will hear.

You want to, ideally, have the speakers 32 inches from the center of the Omni (use the top of the Omni as a guide) to the side or back walls, however, you don’t want the side wall and back wall distance to be identical. Vary it a bit. So, 32 inches from the side wall and 40 inches from the back wall.

I would not suggest Stillpoints (we did try them) on the 101’s, but we have had good luck with the stock spikes, ISOAcoustics GAIA feet, and most definitely, a special platform designed for the MBL’s by Symposium, which is what I use at home. Using the Symposium platform requires the spikes and spike housing ring to be removed so the speaker is sitting flush with the Symposium platform.

But in the case of my customer, the stock spikes on the thick carpet worked wonderfully.
