Did the floor "pucks" under the spikes come with them?

The S5 MkII appears to have much nicer styling than the S7. All the new curves are really fine.

I still have 6 weeks to go on mine. This thread is one giant tease! I'm going with M-Coat Black. Also, I am looking at pairing them with the new VAC Signature 200iQ monos, new VAC preamp and new VAC phonostage, VPI Classic 3 in glossy black with the Transfiguration Proteus cart. Digital will be handled by the Lumin S1 (of course!). Cabling? Not sure....more Siltech?

I showed my wife the pics of the S5 mk2's and she loved them!

I thought you went with the pewter. It might as well be black it's very dark. The Titanium is a real looker tho

Man that sounds likes great pairing Mike. I really look forward to your impressions of it. I'm really glad VAC is widening their product line.
 
I've been studying it for months. The VAC makes sense. Vitus, Tenor and Pass are amazing too. And those CAT amps at CES - OMG. Amazing.

will be curious to hear your Vac vs. Pass thoughts on the S5 MK2s, Mike. I heard the S5 with big Vacs in a large dealer room and felt it could have used more slam. but that wasn't my room, speaker, etc. so not sure the culprit.
 
Sitting waiting for the delivery truck to drop off our silver M-cast S5II's (something different) at this moment. Will be driving them with Vitus, Kondo Kaguras and Absolare electronics....as well as the Studer A812 (pic) with King/Cello electronics which will be integrated into the A812 stand, which will be arriving in about 2 weeks. Using a Revox B77 at the moment and I am totally smitten with the sound of tapes....thx to Myles!!!

Were the speakers broken in? What was the source? I find the Lumin S1 has great "slam" and that's why I chose that to kick things off.

I think with most tube amps, you give up "slam", but we all know what you get more of. It's a fair trade off IMO. Plus, I'm going to put some KT150's in the Sig 200 iQ's (you can use any KT tube) and that should give some slam too. The new Sig 200 iQ's make tube amp ownership a piece of cake.

For me, I still can't get that wonderful sound of the CAT amps on the Magico's at CES out of my head. I think I spent almost 2 hours in that room.

Yeah, I bet the Doshi tape pre will be killer. I went with the King/Cello tape pre electronics because Charlie King is integrating the electronics into the stand of the Studer AND most importantly for me, delivering and installing it. And I heard Myles set up with the King/Cello set up and it was sublime to say the least.
 
Charlie is a great guy. I was close to going with his preamp. Don't think we can go wrong with either.

Yes, they were broken in and on the big 450s. Can't remember the source, but it may have been a case of the alleged lighter S5 bass just not rockin' with the big Vacs in a large room. I wanted to go back and hear them on Soulution to be sure. I've owned a Vac Phi 200 (and Phi Beta) and it had great bass at home, so who knows.

CAT has always been tubes with stones, so no surprise.
 
S5MKII's Silver M-Cast - They seem to be sprouting up everywhere:) Will be available for demo in about a week or two.
