Magico A5’s Arrive!!!!

Ahhhh......meebee that’s why I like Magicos better than the Harbeths I had....dang barometric pressure....I’m at sea level also!
:eyebrow:
thank you grasshopper

I suppose it depends on where it came from exactly.

It makes sense that they would equalize on their own with a little time. I do recall one comment I remember hearing when I attended a Q3 introduction event years ago where the owner of the shop said that they had never heard a speakers character change so drastically from when it was first pulled out of the box. Maybe it could have been related?

Anyways, just speculation and something that I hadn’t heard discussed before.

Magicos take several hundred hours to break in (about 500 for my S3 Mk2s). For me the changes were dramatic, related primarily to the bass drivers, and non-linear. My dealer's experience was similar to mine.

My A3s were absolutely amazing out of the box but bloomed after they were played for a few weeks - hundreds of hours. Everything was at a higher and better level. Unbelievable details in the music. Even at this level within Magico everything is superb. I really enjoy them.

I wish I could justify the price of a set of A5s at this time. However, at least for the present time, I'm hanging in there for something even above them.

I'm looking forward to some Post-COVID-19 listening sessions.

My M3’s took about 5 hours for the first 90% improvement, which was dramatic. It was in that 5th hour that they suddenly snapped to attention. The next 10% took about 200 hours, which was a process of gradual refinement. The final 2% came with the installation of Mpods. And yeah, I know that adds up to 102%!

Not familiar with the mpods but if they make 1/2 the difference simply spiking a pair of Usher 20 dmds did probably more like 112% :)

Any whispers of a review for these speakers?

Whisper..whisper..they’re

IMHO, they set a new benchmark for the $20K speaker budget.

I need to know how these sound with different products. If you ever do listen to the A5 with a Hegel int I would really appreciate hearing your impressions in some detail. no hurries as they would have to be pretty amazing to bump my current system out of the listening room and into the ht room.

Will do, but I suspect it will be a great match. A 590 and a pair of A5’s. Hmmm...

Mike, did you put this on youtube just to torment people like me?! :D

Wow, if they sound that great on the video, I bet they really compete with the S3 Mk2 and S5 Mk2. The treble sounds so darn smooth. Is there a waveguide on the tweeter because something seems vastly improved there.

We did a demo with the A5’s on Friday and used the Boulder 2160/11160/EMM DV2 at the clients request. Let me tell you, the speakers were definitely not out of their league with this line up. The A5’s continue to punch way above their price point. WAY WAY above their price point!

We’ve already sold 3 pairs and several sales pending.

No surprise.

Mike, the A3s on their release took about 5 months to deliver to it customers. Do you have any idea how long it takes on the A5 from the time of order to delivery? I shouldn't asked because the answer may compromise my bank account.

If Suncoast were close to where I live, I already pulled this trigger 2 months ago.

Yes, all three pairs shipped in what I consider an under promise, over deliver time frame. Magico said “4-6 weeks”, but it was always much closer to 4.

Not surprised! I now use my A3's with a Naim 552/500 system, and I have zero feeling or experience that I am under-serving my system with "only A3's." I've now listened to them at home with Naim 252/300, 552/300, and 552/500, and each time they are 'hanging in there' and delivering. Takes the speaker upgrade pressure off that's for sure!
