Lumin Network Audiophile Music Player

Dear Jock,

Sorry for the long waiting time, I will ship Mike's PSU on Monday, and then yours, maybe a week later. Everything is ready, just waiting for the chassis.

Best regards,
Kenneth Lau

Mark - should I just leave it packed and ship it to you? :)

I guess Jock will bring his over. Oh man, I'm afraid what this will do.

Hi Jock, your PSU will send out today, and I will give you the tracking number tonight, thanks.

Best,
Kenneth Lau

Guys, my Kenneth Lau Power Supply arrived yesterday and has been going non-stop. I have noticed a tightening of bass, meatier mids and a wider soundstage. Definitely a nice upgrade.

Thanks Ken!

HI

i order the Lumin
should get it next week

i prefer the software of Synology
but not sure what model to buy
DS214 or DS214Play on the spec look good
but i don't know anything about NAS
which one are you using/recommend?

i can install 2 SSD drives into the NAS to get faster response time from the Lumin?

Thanks

Quick question.

My NAS while on the network is on a different floor from my Lumin and I'm sure goes thru some one hundred feet of cabling before it finds the unit. Do you think there will be a sonic improvement to move it next to the unit? Thx for any thoughts.

Why would you want a noisy thing in your listening room? You can hear 3.5" HD running from your seat. I know I can.

this is why i thought about SSD , no moving parts so the noise is zero
also quicker response.

how you install the NAS in different room? with very long Ethernet cable through the walls?

Don't forget the fans in the NAS. They are louder than the drives. In most cases anyway.

Yes long either net cables. But there are designed for that.

The NAS is next to my iMac in my office. My office is on the second floor . I had an Ethernet cable ran from my router to my listening room. Everything works fine now just wondering.

Nope.
You might see a little less performance on the network itself (transfer will take a little longer), depending on the length of cable. But still, there'll be no sound degradation.

What COULD happen is that your streamer could "stutter", because of the high network latency, but that's pretty rare.
