Kondo Eye Candy.....

My System Oct 2013.JPG

Thanks Bob for the prompt reply.
I had moved away from an all Meridian setup (its actually a change of heart rather than performance based) to an all (in a way - amps and speakers) Avantgarde and the same combination of colour really had me attracted. Of course, I also had the amps front panel changed to the same Jacaranda Rosewood albeit at an additional cost, which to me, is well worth it.
I have since been listening to the system more often than I did with the previous and I must say, I am more than satisfied and happy. Attached picture of my system.
Thanks for highliting Avantgarde speakers as not much were written about their products and really, its a shame cause they DO sounded good!
Once again, thanks.
Cheers!

Hi Mike,
I have been listening to this pair of speakers for close to a year ... and each time, I went home, my then Meridian DSP8k still sounded so good. In the end, I realised that its all because of the Sooloos or rather, today the Meridian Digital media System. When I started playing vinyl, though the Meridian speakers played well, it's like something is missing from my enjoyment. Its just like eating a steak but deriving no pleasure in the savour.
What Bob had written about the Avantgarde Mezzo's right out of the box is true. It sounded SOOOO very good! Words can't describe the feeling when the needle hits the vinyl groove. The realism is simply a pleasure on its own. The only negative side is that this fantastic pleasure lasted at most 30 mins (or one-side of the record) when we have to flip it over. How I do wish its like the Sooloos, it can just keep on playing until I wished it to stop.
You have to go give this a listen, there's not much written or reviews around on Avantgarde speakers. BUT they are simply really, really good. Not in one particular spectrum BUT the entire reproduction. Overall, in simple words, the bass, midrange and highs are so fast and coherent, its like listening to electrostatics sans the weakness, especially in the bass. Its so fast, tight, impact and deep, its on a level on its own. If one finds stuff like the higher end of Magico, Wilson's, Rockports and the like to be so "beautiful in music reproduction", give Mezzo (or the higher Primo or even the Trio) a listen and you will understand why they are up there with their very best ... or even better in some ways. For sure, the looks is of an "acquired taste" and so may not be everyone's cup of tea. However, once the music plays, you will just be so amazed at why you have NOT hear this before. Tube amps, no matter how tiny the wattage will bring out the flavour and of course, Kondo amps, especially the Ongaku or the even costlier M1000 & GakuOn will bring on THE BEST ever. In fact, Avantgarde's very own X Pre/Power combo already made me forget everything about the chase of the holy grail but just sit back and enjoy the music and performance with each piece, be it vinyl or otherwise. The looks and build of the speakers and amps is simply gorgeous. The Rosewood, in this case, the Jacaranda Rosewood and the Amber Bronze colour combo is simply an art!
I can stop heaping praises on this combo and I don't want to sound like the "singer singing his song", but indeed, this is really so very good. Please go and have a listen band you will know what I mean.
Hope I answered your question - in short, they played beautiful music!
Cheers!
