Kii Audio - Three

Well given that I have been invited to demo events at CH Precision with WB speakers, Dartzeel with EA speakers, Stenheim with Absolare /Nagra/CH electronics, full FM Acoustics setup and Goldmund Mk1 and Mk2 speakers, I think I am in a decent position to judge quality. The Mk1 Goldmund was just nice,m the Mk2 was something else. Since you said a few years ago, it must have been Mk1. When Bob (Absolare) here told me that Goldmund had contact in Brazil that was a few years ago. Even Bob will tell you that Mk1 and Mk2 are different animals.

Dont take my word for it, go listen yourself or read the show reports from Warsaw 2015. Even the Nano Metis speaker got raving compliments.

If only Goldmund was cheaper!

Whatever Bob demoed at the last show (some all in one Goldmund speakers with wireless) was amazing sounding.

The Kiis arrived ,I have adjusted both boundary and contour parameters, speakers placed fairly tightly into corners . The sound well just superb ,bass is so sharp ,no overhang whatsoever and the imaging is incredible , you cannot hear the sound from the speakers at all, the sound just hangs in the air, it is spooky .
They are very similar to the Bang&Olufsens Beolab 90's a pair of which we hope to have here soon.
The Kiis can be placed anywhere in any room and they work, full range 19Hz upwards the active wave technology really works, the Kiis and the Beolabs are undoubtedly the future of loudspeaker design.

My Boston Buddy that sold his entire system to buy a pair of Goldmund Prologos Wireless Mk2 {$70K} (including media of 5K vinyl, 3.5K CDs and 500 RTR tapes) also bought a Kii 3 (for vacation home). He said it was great(especially for the much lower cost), but is not le equal of the ProLogos and was selling the Kiis back in May (WAF issues). The did say the Kii was not as far back as the price would indicate, so diminishing returns.

We have just sold a pair of Kiis to a chap with a full Goldmund system ,Epilogue ?something speakers
and some Goldmund amps, if you want them Norman drop me a line.
Keith.
Oh and does the Devialet or Goldmund for that matter use it's spare drivers to create a perfect polar response, no!

Epilogue is obsolete. That is pre Mk1.

Nothing to do with the Mk2 I speak of!

There are the Metis line, the Prologos line (including the Tower/Satya/1S1N/the Plus and Anatta) then there is the Apologue (only 25 will ever be made). These are all WIRELESS powered speakers!

"Regarding the Goldmund active speakers, there are now 12 different models ranging from $6K to $600K. All models use the same active Telos amplification (an amp and separate dac for each driver along with internal dsp processing), and can be run wireless (with supplied dongle) or with a digital cable input from a hub or a processor."

One of the coolest systems is any of the Aurender servers and a usb dongle (supplied with the speakers) that communicates wirelessly with the speakers. The Aurender folks did an embedded volume control in the Aurender Ipad app specifically for the active/wireless Goldmund speakers

I would not compare speaker/amp combinations to either Kii or Goldmund Wireless here.

Oh and as to the DRC in Proteus, they use no microphones (44K parameters are input based on room dimensions and speaker internals). Wonder why Kaiser Speakers are being tuned with Proteus DSP when used with Goldmund amp? See the picture (and commentary) in a 6Moons article last year. i myself happened to see the Kaweros there when I dropped by.

:disbelief:
His audiophile card has been revoked and an immediate appointment with an audiologist is called for.

AJ how nice to see you, I didn't realise you were here, the other, other place just isn't the same, athough Mad Frank is still there!
Not sure why we still have him and yet lost you?

I don't know for certain but I would guess the guys at Kawero don't know how to use a microphone.

Two very nice chaps have listened to the Kiis since they arrived ,two instant sales and both said they were the best loudspeakers they had ever heard.
They are superb.
Keith.
Multi channel experiment now using three Kii THREEs and Illusonic processor.

Experimenting with multi channel audio using three KII THREE's and the Illusonic processor which is capable of separating direct, reflected and ambient sound, effectively up mixing ordinary two channel audio into multi channel.

Keith.

Keith,

Setup and room looks cozy, interesting to hear how your 3ch attempt works out , never heard one convincing enuff before ...

Keith,

With all due respect, I both represent and am personal friends with the designers and owners at Kaiser Acoustics and I assure you that they do know how to use a microphone.

A pic of one of their listening rooms-

I heard the Kii speakers at one of the shows (either Axpona or CES, can't remember) with the Kronos TT and thought it sounded EXCELLENT. Very, very nice speakers/system.

Regarding all of the Goldmund "comments", I would invite anyone visiting Manhattan, especially those that are not just into "mental gymnastics" regarding systems that they have never even heard, BUT are interested in hearing a completely active and wireless system that will compete with complete audiophile/separates systems, but without the wires or clutter, to come in for a visit to one of our two Manhattan showrooms (pics below) where we have eight different models of Goldmund active/wireless systems available for audition. The artwork and furniture in our "Goldmund at Iliad" showroom (shown in pics) are also for sale.

The complete Goldmund active/wireless (they can be wired if you prefer, but sound exactly the same) systems start at $5K/pair for a mini monitor and go up to the Goldmund Apologue at $540K. All systems use the same electronics, which include separate dac's and amps for each driver along with dsp processing regarding time, phase and amplitude for the incoming audio signal.

The fully active Logos Towers, which are shown in the pics below, are $29K for a complete system. You can also run any of the Aurender servers with a usb dongle connected to the usb output of any Aurender, which communicates wireless with any of the Goldmund speakers. The volume control is embedded in the Aurender app, which was developed by Aurender specifically for Goldmund active/wireless offerings. We have many of these systems installed globally with MANY happy customers. All you need is an Aurender, an Ipad and a pair of wireless/active Goldmund speakers for a complete system. Come in for a listen, you might be surprised:)
