Kii Audio - Three

I don't advocate for anything but useability. And the Kii lacks, unfortunately. As my post clearly said, it's 2016, and we expect an USB port in there, not AES (and not SPDIF either).

But of course, the breakout box is coming, and it'll have all the connections you expect a product like the Kii to have.

It would have been ideal if the Kii THREE loudspeakers , breakout box and remote were all released together , Grmm managed it with their LS1. But everything is due at the end of the summer, as is the Kiis still accept both analogue and digital sources at the flick of a switch.

It he Illusonic processors are the best piece of equipment I have ever used, without question.
Not only do they do everything and one processor replaces five or six boxes they are also technically excellent and they do thins that nothing else can do,
Depth, immersion, brilliance, up sampling two channel to multi channel instanr multi channel audio .
And you get the expertise of Christoph Faller to create your room EQ, he really knows what he is doing.
Christoph's EQ and the Illusonic iAP have created the finest sound I have ever enjoyed in my listening room.
Highly recommended.

Yes, Illusonic is damn good. Best for 4D sound that I have heard, but as far as DSP/DRC is concerned, I am yet to hear anything beat the Goldmund Proteus/Leonardo Mk2 for 2-channel. Effing incredible/astonishing...pity they are so expensive.

Yes... so you have stated many times, yet Goldmund's 'white paper' contains nothing except marketing guff?

Keith.
I dont care about white Paper, I heard it for myself! Mark 1 was very good, Mk2 is astonishing.

BTW, there is a lady with a Phd (dr. Adam) that spent 8 years doing only this, designing and refining this complex algorithm. Indeed that was her thesis at the EPFL and Goldmund hired her to implement that tech and its a rollicking success in my book. Kudos to her.

Proteus is more than DRC, it is the Platform with which Goldmund design their speakers by mathematics alone!

Go take a listen, and thank me later.

Eight years research and all they could write about was two pages of nothingIi am afraid I shall always think of Goldmund as the company who placed a Pioneer ? player ,complete with its case into their own enclosure .

Go find her thesis in EPFL! I dont see why you expect them to hand over trade secrets just like that. And its 12 years development, not 8 years...my bad!

In anycase, Leonardo document is 13 pages: http://attachments.goldmund.com.s3...._the_leonardo_time_correction_white_paper.pdf

I remember when the local (Brazil) importer brought this Goldmund system to our hi-end show, including the woman responsible for it. It was really funny, because she was demonstrating the effect of all that DSPing, and when you asked folks, everybody said the room sounded better with the DSP off :) Definitely not a shining moment there...

After that showing, the importer kinda gave up on Goldmund, and hasn't demonstrated with it since...

LOL, I just realised that it has been more than a year since I mentioned the Kii Three, which was launched in Munich 2015. Munich 2016 has since passed, and it has only become available recently, albeit selectively.

I was really looking forward to hearing/owning it, but does it really have to take this long from launch to full production? [emoji15] My dealer even gave me first dibs on the first batch, which has yet to arrive.

Last December, I had an offer for something else that I couldn't refuse. I have been enjoying it since[emoji3]. No cardioid bass but complete otherwise.

Will the Kii Three sound good? By all accounts, yes, it should be a remarkable speaker.

One only wishes that the ancillary equipment was delivered when promised or at the same time as the product.

As of now, until the controller appears, one has no volume control unless one has a pre-amp. Volume control is finicky with the digital input - you need to use a streamer with built-in digital volume control or playback software with one.

If you have a USB only source (which must have its own volume control), you then need a USB converter, which may then become useless when the Kii Link controller becomes available. Looks like Kii is adopting similar solutions as Grimm Audio, which is not surprising. So, I tend to agree with Alex on the user-friendliness bit.

Just set up our first pair, they are scintillating , infinitely adjustable through their placement filtering, they are so crisp, bass is magnificent imaging is razor sharp.
They are very similar to Bang& Olufsen's Beolab 90.
Tomorrow I will experiment with the 'contour' settings.
They have exceeded my expectations.

Well given that I have been invited to demo events at CH Precision with WB speakers, Dartzeel with EA speakers, Stenheim with Absolare /Nagra/CH electronics, full FM Acoustics setup and Goldmund Mk1 and Mk2 speakers, I think I am in a decent position to judge quality. The Mk1 Goldmund was just nice,m the Mk2 was something else. Since you said a few years ago, it must have been Mk1. When Bob (Absolare) here told me that Goldmund had contact in Brazil that was a few years ago. Even Bob will tell you that Mk1 and Mk2 are different animals.

Dont take my word for it, go listen yourself or read the show reports from Warsaw 2015. Even the Nano Metis speaker got raving compliments.

If only Goldmund was cheaper!
