Kef LS50 Wireless review.

I have a jolida D9 phono pre sitting here I can use. I haven't needed to use it since I got the Joule preamp since it has a darn good phono pre built into it. MR Peabody, I did not know Salk had a set of powered or with a built in dac like the Dynaudio and Kef. I feel in the next 10 years we are going to see quite a bit more of this come out.

I am 48 and I have done DJ work on the side since I was 13 or 14 years old. Over the past 15 years I have went to an all active with built in dps. The 2016 model JBL's prx and srx lines have built in wifi, dsp, feedback eliminator and protection. My brother is in a bigger local band and the sound guy uses and ipad for sound while walking around the audience. Several studios are using powered monitors for mixing. It is almost feels like home audio is starting to catch up to pro audio.

I had to bring the demo's back to Holm yesterday. How comes the hard part, Gray or Black? The Gray looks better in person then it does in pictures but, for décor outside of my music room when the kids are out of the house black might be better. Too many choices.

I know I said the app would prevent me from getting a set but, they sound that good in my room. For those that do not know, A few years ago I got married and we needed to convert my basement ( my music room) into bedrooms. I had a nice 28X31 room and I would change off between my Legacy focus, carver amazing, or polk sda1.2 and was happy with them for years. Since the conversion, my gear moved to an acoustically challenged. 9X10 ish. long wall 1 has a 6 foot long 2 foot deep cutout with built in bookshelf and stereo stands. That same wall then opens up to the hallway. The other long wall, opens up to the garage. The shorter walls, 1 has a longer window on it and the other wall is the only one that is even remotely close to normal but, the right corner on that last wall has the cutout to deal with. That cutout has been a bass and midrange Suckout for the room. The Kef LS50 wireless has help overcome this 5 year issue.

I posed the color question to Sheltie1 and he recommended white for best WAF, so I went for white. Still on the fence about buying the matching white stands as I have some high-quality heavy stands at home. If Sheltie1 lets us know if there are wire management features once he sees a pair in the flesh (he was guessing there is no wire management feature), then I'll buy the matching stands in white.

Still have not seen a pair of the new stands in person (yet), but pretty sure they do not (have wire management that is).

Really all 3 of the colors look great in person.

I think the gray look cool and but for the WAF, I would have purchased gray. But I agree with Taylor that all of the colors look great. KEF hit it out of the park with these speakers.

FYI, these new stands appear to be similar/same as the Custom Design FS104 stands, which I have here (and have been using with my LS50's). These do not have any type of wire management.

But, I sent a quick message to my KEF rep to double check.

Taylor, please let us know about the wire management when you hear back from your Kef rep, as I am ready to pull the trigger on buying a pair to match my LS50 Wireless's. Thanks!

Holm said they have had the stands ordered for a little bit and haven't received them yet. Now for the $1,000,000 question... Anyone try changing power cords on them yet?

I believe the stands are supposed to start shipping somewhere around the 28th....so likely still a week or so out before you see them in US.

So does it sound like the updates that Kef is going to make in the future will be easily update-able on the LS50's? I was dragging my feet on buying them now and waiting for the updates? I like the look of the white and copper combination but not sure on the white stands. I wondered it they would look OK on the black stands.

KEF is saying that any updates will be fairly straight forward. There is a network connection and service port connection on the back.

If you don't care for the matched stands, KEF is rolling out 3 other new stands as well....single post, double post, and Reference four post. All are black in color.

These are the ones I saw:

Those are the lower priced, single post stands.

The color matched stands look pretty much like these:

Thank you Taylor, that is good to know on the updates. Those stands you have at your store with the chrome looks pretty cool. Are those also $400 for the pair or more?

They look better, I agree. Mine were $550 a pair or so, so I expect yours to be about $750 a pair...

Do we need to fill the stands with anything or are they solid? Since they don't have cable management, I guess Velcro strips to keep it looking good? I was thinking of the kef stands because of the color matching since I am going with the gray ones.
