Hi,
Just joined yesterday. Like some others, I'm also an AudioKarma member but over the years have gotten tired of the attitude. There's a pervasive attitude towards those that strive to enjoy this hobby if it means spending a considerable amount of money, especially items such as cables. A post about a score on a Technics rack system from Goodwill gets 100 replies of what a great find it was and congratulatory remarks all around while a post about buying a $1000 cables will either get zero responses or 100 replies of how foolish and gullible you were.
Anyways, about me... I'm a chef who used to live in NYC but recently (6 months ago) moved here to Seoul to be the private executive chef for the US Ambassador here. I've been into audio gear since I was around 13 and became totally obsessed with it throughout my younger years spending countless hours and visits to local dealers. My college years saw me buying and selling gear faster and more frequently and reading every issue of Stereophile, TAS as well as various British rags. My current gear is a Naim based system although unfortunately I left it in storage back in the states.
Anyways "hi" again and hoping this place is a welcome change.
