Been active on 'Gon for a while, but noticed most of the reliable posters have not been so active there, so I am moving over here. I live in North west LA county; and have been gradually upgrading and improving my rig. Current rig is:
Venture Excellence III speakers
Veloce Litho series tubed line stage pre
Hegel H-30 amp, running in stereo
Playback Design DAC 5
PC based laptop, running JRiver 20, for high resolution playback
High Fidelity IC's
Klee Grand Illusion ribbon speaker cables
Enklein power cord
High Diamond Power cords
Oppo 105d, with EVS mods
used in combo HT rig:
samsung curved 78" 4k monitor
Marantz 8802 prepro
Parasound A-51 multi channel amp
JL audio Fathom F-113, and Velodyne DD15 subs, one for two channel, one for HT
Paradigm bi pole rears
Arial CC-5 center
Qsonix 205 music server
PS Audio P-5 regenerator
Stein Harmonizers
Audioquest HDMI and usb cables
Directv Genie receiver
3 dedicated 20 amp lines
B and W outdoor zone 2 speakers
Don't have dedicated music room, its in my family room, high ceilings, open rear wall baffles, glass, and large fireplace preventing optimal speaker positioning. Have gear installed on diagonal of long/short wall in corner.
Love my resolution, wish to improve depth of sound stage. Have an annoying low level ground loop hum, or DC passing into mains, can't figure out how to eliminate. Open to any and all suggestions on how to get my rig more quiet, and humless. Hope to meet fellow hobbists, and have reciprocal music sessions...after all, its about the music once the gear gets stable...
Thanks for welcoming onto the Shark pages

I have had great success in getting rid of hum that was a result of a ground loop using Jensen transformers:

Home Theater | Jensen Transformers

Partial description from their web site "...ground loop isolators that eliminate hum and buzz while delivering pristine audio that is free of distortion..."

Not saying this is the solution, but it was something I ran into a few years back....

If you have a cable or dish TV box as part of your system, try disconnecting both ends of the coax cable that runs between the wall plate and TV box as a test. Check if your issue goes away when listening to your music rig after doing so.

Agree with Mike, your hum is coming from the video side. Also don't assume your Direct TV installer did the grounding scheme on their equipment correctly instead of what was easiest for him. Most of those guys are independent contractors.

Apple has the Iwatch, Audioshark now has Mribob! One cool stalwart of high end audio and a friend indeed. Brother, I hope you enjoy this friendly forum. There are lot of knowledgeable folk here happy to chime in as you've seen .

Cheers,
David.
