Hi George

It's funny you mention Summit X's. I very nearly pulled the trigger on a pair. I'm not sure why I hesitated. I know you and a few others love them.

I say a pair of Martin Logan Summit X. The highs are just right as well as the rest!

If you were closer to me, I'd be in trouble. I've fallen in love with those Tannoy speakers and only hope that I had the room for them. I still need to hear S3. I'm probably not a Rockport fan based on a previous demo but I am not sure that it was the speakers fault.

Magico Q3, Rockport Avior, Tannoy Canterbury GR, and Vivid GIYA 2's...... All real nice contenders.

I say forget all of the suggestions you've read so far and go out and get yourself a pair of Bose 901's and be done with it:roflmao::roflmao:

On a serious note, get the Stradivaris:audiophile: You know you want them:exciting:

Funny you should say You didn't like them, Rockport are the only brand I mentioned that I have not listened to. Just added them to the mix as I hear so much good stuff about them.

Oh boy, I never knew this would be so difficult.

I am willing to bet when you finally find the one that works you stay with it. I believe speakers are the hardest component to settle on - the most personal of choices. Especially pairing with right amp to match impedance curves etc. I rifled through many speakers, liking something about each a lot until I bought my s5 which did all the things my ears wanted. Only downside is they are soooo heavy.

I agree Darin !

I'm thinking u pull a Mike and revisit an old friend and go with the soon to be released TAD CR-1 V2 with a new sweeter tweeter, more efficiency, and a rear slot to toast bagels so less interruptions for eating

Joe, are you looking for your exit speakers or just another pair to complement the Harbeths?
