Jay's Audio Journey

Absolutely nothing wrong with Pass Audio gear. Typically great sounding at its various price points. Extremely reliable with excellent customer service. Enjoy your system!

Agreed. Damn great stuff at a fair price from a fabulous company with world class customer service and made in America.

The class A amp may never be disclosed on my channel. The class D amp amp is this:

Amplifier | Rouge Audio Design | Roma

Suggestion: regardless of the result you should show both amps that you are asking people to compare and that you are making statements about.

Why would you not disclose the amp (or could in fact be 'amps') that are currently concealed, that you are stating is Class A?

Ok guys
Here’s the final demo which includes the Soulution 725 preamp.
It’s been hard to do this but fun at the same time. My raw thoughts to come later this week.

Because i can...

I’ve really enjoyed your channel .. up until now. Any success you are having is because of your viewers and when someone asks you a genuine question that most of us are wondering about and you respond like that … well why did I unsubscribe you may ask??? Because I can! LOL

Entertaining but I can't appreciate any difference in the videos with my computer speakers. :)

The budget amp sounds just as good as the mystery amp to my ears over my computer speakers LOL...

Jay, keep it up, people love being guided and their opinions shaped. Psychology 101

Thru my phone using bluetooth ear buds I heard a difference in all 3 demos. I voted and preferred the high end amps (not knowing which was which at the time). 3 for 3. In demo 1 and 2 the difference was obvious to me. On the 3rd, I had to go back and forth a few times but started to pick up on the differences.

Very clear difference in all three demos via my Apple Ear Buds / IPhone.

Not being lead anywhere except where my ears and wallet take me.

My thanks Jay for your efforts.

So which of the amps is closest to what the recording engineer heard when he mixed, tweaked and finalized the recording?

What’s your point?

I liked what I heard from the Class A amplifier and picked it correctly 3 times. It sounded ‘right’ e.g. better to me.

I have a Class A amp but it sounds very different with my Harbeth than it would sound driving Wilson speakers and I’m sure your speakers as well as the recording studio monitors. My point always was and always will be that there is no absolute reference point and never was. Perhaps someday someone will invent a fideliometer and at the press of the button it will gauge the response against a “standard” and even give out percent accuracy score points… But until that day, it’s all how we perceive these concepts of components and pretend as if they exist outside the realm of system and room interaction and synergy. They don’t.

On the Entertainment value front, Jay delivers and as long as too many feathers don’t get ruffled as opinions are dispensed, it will all be OK for a while :)

Thank you guys. I love to see you all collaborate and give me your feedback. I do this because i love it and being able to share this with you all makes this more enjoyable.
I have more tricks up my sleeve and more components coming.
Notice how i am now living with most of my gear for months before i move on. I give equipment a fair shot and this is something I didn't do before. Lesson learned!

This exercise asked the question “Which presentation sounds better to you?”. It was not trying to find an absolute reference or a higher meaning.

Train wreck, just can’t look away.

High entertainment value, low on substance.
