After graduating from model airplanes and getting into audio and video, i knew someday if i ever had a large room i would have some fun. I built my dream!

StudioTek 130 G3 motorized, 92" in 2.35:1 Runco Q-750d calibrated by Kevin Miller. Dynaudio Confidence C2 Signatures with matching center, Confidence C1 Signatures in the back, 2 Dynaudio Sub 600s. Anthem Statement D2v with ARC, 5 Simaudio Moon 400Ms, Denon DVD-A1UDCI Blu-ray SACD.
The beauty of the room is in large part due to the expert design and craftsmanship of Aaron Hoffman, Kanso Audio Furniture. He followed an acoustic analysis by Chris Huston of Rives Audio (Chris was Led Zep recording engineer back in the day).
As good as it is, we're going to kick it up a bit more - Aaron is going to build an infinite baffle subwoofer on the right wall just forward of the Mocha diffusors. It will be (4) 15" Acoustic Elegance drivers firing into the basement with a Crown K1 amp.

And yes, my chair has a seatbelt!

That looks like a sweet place to hang out. If you had a bathroom and a mini-fridge there would be no reason to leave it... :)

047.JPG397.JPGEnough room for my little guy who did the soundcheck as the room was being built; he sits on my lap when i run a movie.

How about some diffusion - Aaron opened up the ceiling - several 2" x 10" wood blocks for diffusion. Effectively raising the height of the ceiling from 7 feet to 8 feet.

This is great idea. I had thought of this for myself. From the picture did you cover this to give a flat look or is it all painted in?

The ceiling is covered in Guilford of Maine acoustic cloth with wood trim as well as the walls and doors. The colors are Chocolate and Moleskin.
Owens Corning 702 for absorption under all the cloth as well.
31 wood slats of different widths for diffusion on both sidewalls off the front speakers, photo taken during early construction.
2 bass traps built into the left front and right front corner of the room.
Solid core doors replaced the lightweight balsa doors.
2 doors were added to close off entrance and exit areas - keep the room pressurized.
Hunter Douglas blackout shades.
Capal rug in Mocha from New Zealand, 100% wool.
Jacob Flexsteel chair and ottoman - more comfortable than my bed!
Room is 11.5 x 25.
