It may be over for me - may lose everything

Eric,

I am glad it all worked out for you. I will not say much, but I will say, it was an unkind "joke". some jokes can be funny, some can even stir the pot. This was right up there with telling you a loved one had died. Not funny by any measure as a joke like that could be life changing.

Well, said more than I should have. Just glad it worked out.

Sooo, I just wasted my time, again!  :tumbleweed: :what: :cantmove: :locked: ;) :D

Not entirely. Had this been real, it would have counted. That said, you can be angry with me if you like, but I was completely fooled. It was very real to me! It gave me cardiac pause. I'm glad on one hand that it was a punking thing. On the other hand, I'm not a person who should be punked. It was scary.

It was all of our positive thinking that turned his boss around, he just covered by saying it was a joke :)

Well, I don't know about that, but if it floats.... This has to have been well planned for my boss to pull it off so believable like he did. I'm no expert at such things myself and he is certainly not! When he is not serious, he gives it away immediately. This took some doing!

+1.

I worked for a horrible human being about 20 years ago and he did shit like this to a poor guy named Donny all the time. Donny was 63, two years away from retirement. Donny needed to work until 65.

The GM thought it was all fun and games until Donny couldn't take it anymore and hung himself. Those horrible experiences live with you forever.

There are things in life you can joke about, but family, death/illness and our livelihood are not any of them.

Yeah, that thought occurred to me as I did get a scare from it and being who I am, it was dangerous. At the same time I also know that he would not knowingly do harm to me. That said though, it was not funny to me. I'm relieved and shocked and appreciative of the outcome indeed, but still as a person with a pulse issue......it may be wise to carefully choose one's pranks.

Oh wow! I'm not one for pranks like this myself, that is I never pull them on people because you never know. My boss is not like that either though so that just doubled the shock. You guys are right tough, kind of a poor topic to use for an elaborate joke on someone. Thank goodness he didn't fake firing me!!! That would have led to a 911 call for sure as I have Tachycardia. I am going to take a natural tranquilizer tonight though for precaution if nothing else.

I hope you have health insurance. With a boss that pulls shit like this, you're going to need it in the future. While you're at it, I'd dust off your resume and see what the market thinks you're worth. It never hurts to have a good inventory of your accomplishments and skills. This way, the next time this kind of thing happens you can know you're prepared for such events and not panic. You can think of Samuel Jackson in Pulp Fiction when he says 'Be Cool'.

Even 1.5 hours is too long to let someone stew on this kind of joke (if you want to even call it that). I don't know how everyone else feels about this, but this is an awful thing to do to someone.

Eric... Glad all turned out for the best. I agree with the others who feel this wasn't very funny. Relax to some nice tunes this evening.

Me, angry? ...Never Eric. ...I'm a very different kind. :peace:

...Humor, and happiness. :)

Mike, you struck a chord right there!

Me too I can tell you something similar, and not everyone all the time is fully aware of the 'grave' implications!
Humans are very sensitive animals. ...Better to love them with 'real' words of love & wisdom than bury them in the ground!

Glad everything was only a joke or maybe GOD change your situation for the positive.

I'm only 42 years old and I born with a heart problem. Before I got operated 22 years ago I was
Very depress when I found out that maybe I could not outlive the operation. Too many things
to do and see. After that day I see life very different.
I work for the pleasure and not to live to work.
Money is important but more important is happiness and that can't be bought.
Have a child is priceless
Have a family is priceless
Have good friend is priceless
Have a good health is priceless
Have the possibility to walk and see priceless
Etc..

You see there is many things money can't buy
Life is beautiful, enjoy it

Wow...just reading through this thread. Eric, I am glad it worked out and as many have said, I also am disappointed by your boss' prank/joke. It certainly does not demonstrate good judgement on his part to say the least. Take it easy and celebrate with a glass of your favorite adult bevvie and take your natural tranquilizer, followed by 2 aspirins and gice us an update in the morning :D

Excellent 'bean' Nelson!

Bad joke, good outcome. I'm glad things worked out for you, Eric!

I agree 100% Mike, this is not funny MAYBE someone else could have ended his life over this STUPID joke what a boss all i could say for that person is HE HAS NO CLASS WHAT SO EVER.:reallymad:

If it was a big company - here is a good punk back - "I am suing you for harassment and undo stress detrimental to me health...$5,000,000". Not sure the size of your company but I don't think the HR department would find it funny. Settle out of court for 1.5 million. :panic:
