I fully agree.
In fact I have started a thread and a poll about that a little while ago. Please take a look and vote because right now the no way voters are in the majority..

By the way, the Linn Exakt is already doing what you describe with DAC etcetera.

There is an interesting thread on Steve Hoffman audio hardware forums where Steve says his extremely high end system seems not as enjoyable as less truthful systems.
 
Will check that out…however I'm not a Linn Fan, due to the reason that the Linn gear I have heard was "boring and cold", but will check these out just of pure interest

You need to listen to a Linn DS, they're very musical, not boring or cold.
 
I'm curious - does Steve own any of his own gear or is it all on loan? Haven't I seen him complain about his system before so more people will "loan" him more gear?

I've heard the Linn Akurate DS and Linn Klimax DS many times. Both are extremely musical. I would like to try one of their streamers one day in my system.

Mike If you ever will look into Linn Streamers, the same German Engineer that modified my Sonos, one of his main biz is modifying / improving Streamers among them Linn. What this Doctor does is beyond my knowledge, but he does have a large number of satisfied High-End geeks. If you want to know more ask me

Thanks. I will keep that in mind. My Linn dealer has been trying to get me an Akurate or Klimax to demo for over 6 months now. No luck. I have reached out to Linn myself for a review sample. No luck. No response. On the other hand, Lumin responded in a few hours and is more than happy to send me a Lumin to review. Stay tuned.

Mike, since you mention this publicly now I will bring it under the attention of the Linn folks. They surely have a problem in your region.

I would appreciate that. Lumin by the way is sending me a unit overnight. I should have it tomorrow. They have been amazing answering questions and even gave me some unique inside information about the comparisons they have made of their unit to the DCS Vivaldi stack. I saw the pics myself. Very cool. I am really look forward to reviewing this streamer.

Linn just ignores my emails! :). My dealer has been asking his distributor since June for a demo Akurate or Klimax for me to try.
