I am no more an audiophile !

Zero.......The video was relatively interesting until you started dropping the F-bombs and S-bombs like those words somehow enhanced the validity of your enthusiasm or added some kind of hip expressionism to whatever point you were making at the moment. In my humble opinion, the profanity was pointless and diminished the value of your topic and the video. Words matter. Just sayin'.......

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's time to dole out the individual responses:

Steve - heh. :D I confess that I think the topic itself is incredibly straight forward. The definitions for 'high fidelity' and 'audiophile' are crystal clear. I suppose the implications of stating this is where the complications begin to set in.

Chris - You own a bunch of awesome gear, you Holiday-Inn Express audiophile you! :D

Mike - I know exactly where you're coming from. As you know, I'll often use "Hi-Fi" to describe the very same thing. This in and of itself wouldn't be a problem if that's what the definition actually meant - but the issue here is that it doesn't! Hence why I made it a point to illustrate the common association with the word. It's become a common descriptor of a component thats perceive as lacking soul or, as you put it, the "organic nature of music". But when you get right down to it Mike, isn't the real source of the music is the musician, their instrument, their performance, and the arrangement? If that's the case, wouldn't the mark of an excellent "hi-fi" component be the one that comes close to capturing that kind of sound?

Double D - Believe it or not, I hear you. I've posted 40+ videos on that channel, and minus a few slip ups here and there, almost everything that I've done up to this point has been predominantly PG13. This time around, I decided to let my hair down and forgo using my filter. I understand that by doing so, there will be people like yourself who will see the use of foul language as unnecessary and a dilution to the overall message. I can respect that. I even appreciate your bringing it up. We'll see if this is something that I continue to do in the future, or if it'll remain a one-time thing.

Zero.......Glad to see you took my post as intended. I am no prude. I'm an old Navy veteran who can cuss with the best of them, but there is a time and place for everything. It seems to me public speaking on forums and in videos, accessed by anyone from all walks of life, should be tempered toward the best we have to offer. I appreciate your response.

Thanks for the video Zero !

To me the Audiophile or Hifi = listening to your ears, eyes and brain.

Musical sounds = may not the bling bling system but when the music plays it touches your heart.

I like both system.

I think the main reason much vintage gear sounds "good" or "musical" is simply that it is not very resolving of faults in the recording itself or elsewhere in the reproduction chain. Put an old Sansui receiver with a pair of Magicos (any model) and it will not sound "musical", yet the Magicos (or Wilsons, Avantgardes, NOLAs or whatever) can certainly sound that way, as can that Sansui receiver paired with some excellent speakers from the '70's. There are certainly exceptions, some older equipment is very resolving and musical (Marantz 9, Infinity Servo-Statik, etc) but it's relatively rare.
