High efficiency speakers for SET

My salesman is excited because he wants to hear them with my Naim setup. He's played with them a little with the entry level Naim and was very impressed. I really never thought of that matchup, but thats one of the fun things about this addiction - I mean hobby.

As luck would have it. The O96s showed up at the dealer this afternoon and of course, I'm headed out of town.

Next week it is. :)

This is one speaker I am dying to hear.

The Vittora is a fully horn-loaded, three-way, high-efficiency speaker system that delivers wide dynamic range, high output, and extremely low distortion. It IS a horn speaker, and it gives us everything we like about horns while minimizing the problems that plague some other horn designs. The Vittora strikes a balance between the sound of a high-end, smooth, audiophile speaker, and the in-your-face, lively, dynamic sound of a big horn system. It is unmistakably true to the all-horn format, but polite enough to be taken seriously by any audiophile.

I was upstate NY this summer at someone's home visting. He had the Volti Audio Vittora at his home while I was there. They were very cool, reasonably priced too. I liked them.

Otherwise, these are 94db efficient. AMT Heil Kithara. Driven to loud levels by Klimo Beltraine tube amps (8wpc).

Not the prettiest visually, but the sound of that big Heil driver is divine. The bassplate and new suspension tightening improves the bass tremendously and shores up what was the weakest link in the chain.

Tricell in Toronto is the dealer.

Mike- have you ever heard the JBL K2/Everest? They aren't often discussed in the States despite being made an hour north of me.

yes, yes, yes! Great speakers. I heard those at Mr. Harry Weisfeld's. LOVED them with the McIntosh 303. Forget the source...hmm...wait, what was it? Hmm....oh yeah, VPI Avenger!

Good question - I'd say mid-90s

just spent some time looking for 95-100 dB sensitivity speakers for my 18 wpc amp. the three that i spent the most time on were omega, voxativ and viking acoustics.

each of the three have drivers with alnico magnets which was a desired feature.

Was that one of Greg Timbers last designs?
