High efficiency speakers for SET

Jock,

Line Magnetic has a reasonably priced field coil speaker I am looking at as well. The 755i I think.

These Joe?

DeVore speakers are nice because they sound great in a wide variety of rooms. Some of the other high efficiency speakers need bigger spaces and more room to breathe.

After looking through some of the info that you guys have posted. I keep thinking that some of these speakers are beautiful but so dang BIG. I can't figure out where I would put them. So I think I need to look into something like the DeVore O96s size wise. Or smaller of course.

Depending on the specs of the new Wilson Duette Series 2, they might be a candidate for lower powered tube gear.

Joe,I didn't know Wilson was coming out with a new Duette !! The Duette was always one of my favorite Wilson speakers !!

Debbie posted a link just recently. I bet they will be really nice!

They should be interesting. I like the original Duettes so if they maxed it out for a stand mount, it could be great.

Jock,

You could be on the cutting edge of this one :)

I asked Debbie what the specs are going to be.

Parker Audio makes 4ohm 95db stand mount speakers, very well matched to Decware amps (I am running the 2w Superzen SET amp through them right now). I prefer them to the decware 4ohm Radial speakers for their imaging, quickness and drive. ~$1k but they also have DIY kits with the drivers for significantly less. An option on the lower budget end of the very impressive list compiled above!

Joe, just when I think I have everything under control, you pop that in... I hope to be able to listen to the O/96's someday. I've heard so many good things about them. I'm actually thinking about the Gibbon 88's to replace my Super 8's. Maybe down the road.

I want to hear a set of Bob Crites "Cornscala's", best of the Cornwalls and Lascala's combined!
Bob lives about 80 miles from me, so I think they may be my next audition.

I'd be eager to read your opinion. I love my Cornwall III's and if I can get a little (or a lot) more performance in the same package, Wow! I bet they are wonderful.

ps. Sorry Doug. One thing at a time. :)
