I thought I'd just say "HI" to the good folks here. I've been lurking on this site for some time. It seems like a great bunch of people here judging from the posts/advice and general feeling of the forum.
I've been into this hobby by default as my dad brought me up on a steady diet of both gear and music. He owned many brands(Braun, Perpetuum Ebner, McIntosh, ATC, Martin Logan, Simaudio, Dual, Bang & Olufsen, Audio Research, Tandberg, Bluecircle etc. etc.) In my teens, I got a first generation Toshiba CD player along with the Active Diamond Wharfedale speakers for my bedroom. From there I got heavy into car audio(sound quality not boom boom)and competed for a number of years.
Then I met my wife who also was a music lover and has supreme tolerance of my hobby and I think actually enjoys it as much as I do, except for the constant research aspect of the gear. I tend to hold on to my gear longer (read years) before upgrading, so I can get familiar with the sonics and the actuations and the limitations.
On the gear side, I've also had brands of: Yamaha, Sony, Simaudio, Proceed, Totem Acoustics, Talk Electronics, Chapter Audio, Audio Research, Tube Technology, Monsoon, Bluecircle, Newform Research, Shanling, Klipsch, Dual, Clearaudio, Audiomat, 2 pairs of custom Tflo speakers with top grade drivers(Raven, ATC, Focal, Dynaudio, Accuton)etc. etc.
My latest system which I have finally finished except for the wiring upgrade is:
Magnepan 20.7, Sanders Magtech Monoblocks, Sanders Preamp, Zesto Andros PS1, Project Xtension 10 Evolution with Ortofon Cadenza Red MC cartridge, Bryston BDA-2 and BDP-2 Digital player, Bluecircle line conditioner for sources/pre.
The most fun that my wife and I have are going to concerts when our favorite artists come to the city. There is something about going to a live concert even if you don't have the best seat in the house, that connects with ones emotions and soul, and also being a fun night out! Second best is to recreate as much of a music experience in ones home. I love going on YouTube to find different artists that are up and coming, along with listening to the older music. I do have a few Audiophile recordings, but I usually try a combination of decent sound, but more emotionally connecting music...or just stuff to work out to or dance to haha! Well that's about it.
Cheers!
