Re: Grounding units like - "Tripoint" - "Shunyata" Triton/Typhon
Actually the surge protection information came directly from Caelin on another forum. He made the point a day or two ago. I went back and checked to make sure before posting.
I went with the 2 Typhons after discussion with Caelin. He called it extreme but very effective, more so than the Cyclops. He said he doesn't recommend the Typhon route only because of cost. The Typhon has larger NICs than the Cyclops so in theory they should give you more of what the Cyclops can deliver. I never went the Cyclops route after communicating with Caelin so I can't offer an opinion on the Cyclops. Yes, you're correct, you plug the Typhon into the open receptacle in the outlet, it works in parallel. They also recommend you use a short umbilical so you have to place the box near the outlet.
I will tell you, the difference with the Typhons in are not insignificant. I had to unplug them at first because I couldn't believe what was going on. I don't think Mike or Joe would mind if I mention this because they both post on What's Best Forum, there's a long thread on this very subject and actually a couple of threads that could give you some good information.
Hope that helps Allen.
