GigaFoil v4 Inline Ethernet Filter

Is that Keces P3 for the GigaFoil and P8 for the Nucleus?

P3 has 2 outputs, each of which has a selectable switch for different voltages. I use 5v for Gigafoil and 16v for Nucleus. Keces is the value king of LPS and the best looking too.

In terms of power output, P3 should be enough for Nucleus. It's (very) marginal for Nucleus+ due to higher peak power requirements.

I will be packaging the P8 with the Nucleus/Nucleus + and P3 with GigaFoil v4.

Spank me and call me Sally I'll be damned . I thought I owned the the reference point for black background. I thought most likely a waste of money. New house , great install for AC and Ethernet. Insert gigafoil v4 and there becomes another level of black

The GigaFOIL and AQ Diamond combo install is probably the best "bang for the buck" add I have ever done for my system. After the Chinese New Year holiday I will be going with Mike's suggestion for a LPS. I can't imagine the SQ getting better but I will give it a go.

I have been pretty happy with the Aqvox SE for the last 6 months or so... Anyone have a comparison yet?

I too have the AQVox SE and Happy, but ask the same question. I also use that same switch to feed my DAC, Server, Apple TV and Oppo.

I am thinking if there is nothing before GigaFoil you will hear the benefits of Gigafoil and more so with an upgraded power supply as many here have indicated.

In either case, with or without GigaFoil, a good cable will add benefit.

I’m still tempted to try and will advise.

Billt1 does have a fantastic utility room. Very clean and well applied. However, I see nothing of audio quality in the network. It all appears to be commercial grade. Excellent for a home based business or someone who just wants to do low voltage right in a big house. In the last 15 x million plus houses I have wired in seattle, only 2 wanted ethernet. Go figure.

I agree with Ultrafast that a Gigafoil may be excellent inserted into this application. Utilized in a network where specific audio grade ethernet enhancements have already been done may greatly reduce the impact of a optical isolator.

I too am interested, but I want to see if people start to find there is a little something missing with the isolator over time. May take a month or two. I see this happen with filters. People are drawn to the quiet and calm, but over time realize small important musical cues are getting erased. If something needs filtering to get rid of noise, many times it's best to eliminate the root cause instead of trying to clean it up afterwards. Cleaning devices have a tendancy to take away more than just the problem.

I use my Uptone LPS-1 with my Gigafoil but had to buy a 2.1mm to 2.5mm adapter to fit the larger barrel of the gigafoil. I am waiting for a specialty cable Gothem cable 2.1 to 2.5 from Ghent audio which will replace a cheap short adapter i purchased on Amazon.

Thanks for the input. I agree there is a lot going on in this rack . The install was done by a company that does million dollar installs ( clearly not my install) regularly . I assumed there may be noise but not of any consequence and only bought the gigafoil as a feel good pill. I was wrong. Now to order the ifi PS and an AQ diamond . What the picture did not show was dedicated sub panels located within 8 feet of hifi outlets. And with a happy number of 14Mv of noise on the AC line.

Hold off on the iFi PS and Diamond cable if u can

I think there might be better solutions forthcoming...

If anyone selling their Aqvox SE, I’m all ears. Probably the only way to know if Gigafoil v4 further improves with having both in the system.

Not selling my AQVox SE, no need to it does what it supposed to. Like you said the sure way to know is to try it.

I will wait to see if anyone else elects to try this route that already has an audio grade switch (hint Rex), otherwise, I will consider jumping in over the next few weeks. Previous to Mike, I made contact with the manufacturer in San Diego, and they have agreed to take the unit back with me holding the freight if it does not work as I hope it will.

King,
Any experience with Uptone Audio UltraCap 1.2 LPS or Paul Hynes SR4 & SR7?

UltraCap 1.2 LPS is much better sounding than the iPower. I have compared them on my SOtM sMS-200 endpoint and W4S Recovery USB reclocker and the difference was well worth the $400 extra.

The UltraCap 1.2 LPS is based on the latest wonder chip - LT3045 Ultra Low Noise LDO Voltage Regulator, which has ultralow RMS noise @ <0.8µV and ultrahigh PSRR @ 76dB at 1MHz. Those are absolute class leading figures. Components of that quality were simply not available just a few years ago.

I'm about to order alternative voltage regulators (since the LPS-1.2 is in fact an advanced voltage regulator, and requires another PSU to drive it) based on same LT3045 chips:

http://www.ldovr.com/product-p/dxp-1a5s.htm

They are only $95 (plus say $49 for the ifi iPower to drive it), so 4x less than LPS-1.2.

I will be ordering two to drive my two Ethernet switches (a regular TP-Link and the new SotM switch that I just bought).
