Who else is following the germanwings tragedy? Such a horrific event. The senseless destruction and killing of those poor poor children, and everyone else on board.

Now they think its the co-pilot who acted alone. Sick.

I knew from the first report something was off. This morning when I heard about the pilot locked out of cockpit, and yesterday's report of descent, I knew for sure. But the news kept saying there was no sign of foul play. Any idiot can read between the lines.

Sad world we live in anymore!

It is crazy, and probably impossible to fix. How do you deal with the human element? Trust is a basic human act, yet, in the end, unverifiable. Hopefully, something good will come out of this, and all those lives will not have been in vain. RIP.

Such an accidend would be impossible to happen in the US.

According to US regulations, a pilot cannot be left alone when the co pilot is going to the toilet. One of the other crew members must come and change him at the cockpit (if only to sit there and stare if the co pilot is OK).

This is so upsetting. I think it's all the more clear every day that if somebody wants to do something where they're willing to DIE to accomplish it, there's very little one can do to prevent it.

Adam - I travel quite a bit. I can tell you that I have not seen that policy executed with consistency in the U.S. Not always have I seen a member of the crew go into the cockpit when one of the pilots needs a restroom break. Maybe we'll see more consistency after this very tragic crash.

I agree Mike. I have seen over the past 3 months several occasions where the pilot will leave the cockpit and no flight attendant goes in to the cockpit. Just like the glaring inconsistencies in TSA screening processes from airport to airport (and even within the same airport), there doesn't seem to be any hard rules being followed.

You can bet they will now.
My heart breaks for all the victims and their families.

Such a senseless tragedy. Clearly the co-pilot who committed this suicide mission was clearly unhinged/deeply depressed. One only wishes, he could have taken his own life in some other way without murdering all those innocents on board. We can't wrap our heads around such a tragedy because the question we all want to ask...WHY? has no satisfactory answer in a situation like this and it leaves us reeling in the senselessness of it all

I'm waiting to see who takes the credit first: Al Qaeda or ISIS.

Really think the press and the like should stop calling this a suicide. This is mass murder! So so tragic.

As if we didn't have enough to worry about every time we fly and now we have to worry about the mental health of the pilots.

What a terribly sad, tragic and scary situation.

May God bless and rest the souls of the innocents on that flight that were taken so abruptly.
