Rob, good luck on your Versa 2. Back in the early '90's, I had a Versa 2 (that is the less expensive model, right?). My audio dealer at the time knew that I had wanted a super turntable, but didn't have the money for one. I had a SOTA Star Saphire at the time with a nice Grado cartridge on an Eminent Technologies linear tracking arm (so I knew about vacuum pumps for the record hold down, and a pressure pump for the air bearing arm). One of his customers had died and he was helping his widow dispose of his collection of high end audio equipment. One of the pieces was the Versa Dynamics 2 TT and the price was right, especially when a van den Hul Grasshopper Gold III cartridge was thrown in for next to nothing. I had the TT for several years, and while it was working, it was a dream. John Bicht had taken his Versalabs business in another direction (making fancy expresso coffee makers, as I recall) but he still had various parts available, and I did have some correspondence with him, maybe even a phone call or two. I put the huge pump case (which provided both the vacuum for the TT platter and the positive pressure for the air bearing arm) in a nearby closet to keep the noise level down. I am not too handy, so eventually the maintenance got to me and I was able to sell it.
It is still one of the classiest looking TT's ever made.
Larry
Hi Larry, what you had was the 1.0, I owned one as well. the 2.0 is its big brother, similar principal but uses an air bearing platter as well as arm. JB is around I spoke with him a few weeks ago, he still provides support on a consulting basis and can get me up and running. the VD 'tables are very interesting machines that deserve their own thread, maybe that's what I do when I get it playing music.
I am sure you will get your package. It is not lost....only misplaced. It may be in Tehran, but it will eventually come to you. Keep a positive view in play.
