Dream Amps

David, I think Vitus would be better served saying nothing about any new product before having an exact release date. It would avoid disappointment and frustration. I wonder if they secured a deal with the new U.S. distributor that's been rumored .

Accuphase's insane USA pricing will prevent me from doing anymore than lusting for them.

Hey Joe, Those Accuphase amps are certainly beautiful. I'll wait patiently for your delivery and first impressions!!!

My dream amp will be whatever Joe decides to let go of :D... seriously though, for me probably a new ARC....

Well because of feedback like this, that is exactly the position they're now taking.

So many good ones...but I would be very happy upgrading my Momentum S-250 to the M-400s.

So having the itch to go from super to super-duper [emoji3].

While I have not heard (obviously) the "whenever they come out" Dan D'Agostino super-amps (Helios? Helius? not sure of the name), if they compare to the Momentum M400s similarly to when and how the KAS models compared to the KSA models in the old days; my wife and I will have to turn to a life of crime to fund the purchase.

ive heard these and the stereo version. Best midrange of any high powered amp I've heard, tube or ss, so seductively liquid and natural. You can't go wrong with this unless you want your bass tight as a stretched archers bow. It DOES NOT Sound like any 6550/KT88/120/150 based amp I've heard. More like a high powered SET. The only amp that edged it out in the mids was the AIRTIGHT 3211 running 2 211 tubes in push pull configuration allowing it to deliver a claimed 120w. But the 2001's give up very little in midrange magic to the 3211 and can drive most speakers with it's claimed 180w, 330w for the mono blocs. I don't mean to demean offerings from ARC, CJ, VTL, and the other established tube big boys, they all offer excellent products, but again, I've never heard a high powered push pull amp deliver this type of midrange magic.

Joe, I totally agree. Maybe they should source a new distributor. If they could bring their pricing don 30%, They'd be a powerhouse brand...

Same goes for Magico in Europe. The S3mk2 costs €36K in Europe and $28k in the USA.

Amps, I don't think the most expensive is always the best. If I go super over the top outrageous expensive. Maybe the Zanden 9600mkII, Octave Jubilee mono, Halcro DM68 there are many more.

But to be honest I doubt I''l be ever able to afford an amp that is (much) better than my current integrated amp. Maybe if I win a couple million I'd buy it's bigger brother.

Dream amps are the Audio Note UK Gaku-ons but Audio Note does have a new $800,000 pair of monoblocks that they custom designed and made for a wealthy (obviously) audiophile in Greece - and I've seen some prototypes of an amp likely above that. in their factory tour.

I would like to hear the Legend amps when they arrive.

My Personal "I can afford it level" will be the Audio Note UK Empress Silver or Silver Signature 2a3 at 7 watt. I will then look for, a review purposes, SS amplifier of reference quality to use for reviews for tougher to drive speakers - Accuphase is a possibility and all are stable to 1ohm. Not that that is necessary but it doesn't hurt.
