Did you ride today?

Ride on for me Bob cuz it's minus 1,000,000 degrees in permafrost land. Can't take this sh!T anymore, weather has been relentless around here this year.

Knees are shot from heavy intensity spinning, if you can't do volume do intensity they say. Well tell that to my knees! Good thing about this weather is if I want to ice my knees I just put them outside for a minute and they literally freeze up. Two minutes and they turns blue, problem is my balls also turn blue, different way of getting blue balls I guess.......

So frigging cold around here can't even cross country ski for I'm going to freeze my lungs.

Ride on for me Bob cuz I need to be ready for my first race in April.

Sorry for the rant :)

I'm so jealous of you guys bring able to ride this time of year. I haven't even been on my trainer for one reason or another.:-(. Ride on guys, ride on!

Dan, take care of those knees. Spinning can blow 'em up. Icing immediately after, and doing some lateral physical therapy stuff works well for me. Cycling is just too one-plane of motion, and for me at least I have to work to keep the stabilizing muscles strong. I use rubber bands a lot before spinning, monster/crab walks. It'll wake those legs up before hopping on the damn trainer. This time of year I ice after every ride/spin. F'ing hell, this getting older crap.

Allen, I'll tackle the next hill at tempo for ya. You'll likely have a great summer as repayment for the nasty winter hell y'all are having.

And Stringreen, ya lucky bastard, the desert SW is the place to be in the winter. I've golfed there at the Boulders several times this time of year, and done some riding too. Brilliant!

Life is what you earn.

I live about 3 minutes from the Boulders.....next time you're in the neighborhood let me know....I have a system that really sings.

Bob,

This is what happens when you play like a kid in an old body :disbelief: . I know the drill but I just do the stretching thing when it's too late!

Stringreen,

I just travelled south to Scottsdale and I'm about 5 minutes away from your house, where do you live exactly? :D

Bob, you must have some nice hills where you are. Here in central Jersey, the Sourland 'Mountains' are 550' high at peak. Some steep grades, but peaks out way to early.

Right now I'm on Safari in Kenya.....too bad....another time....I can't get a flight home that fast.

Life's really not giving me a break........ Ah well let's drive west to Bob's place then. Should be there on Friday Bob ;) I can sleep between the Alexia

Come on out fellas... weekend through Tuesday clear and sunny, temps mid-50s. Hills or flats, I have routes with either or both. Music room still in a state of flux, and the gear still breaking in, but there's wine and I can always put together some food. Portland Jazz Festival under-way as well. And I've always got a spare room/two for guests.

Do your wive's ride? My wife is wanting me to put together this summer's vacation, with the Euro/Dollar the way it is might be a good time for another bike-tour in Europe.

I'm masochistic so I would say hills....and wine! Always wondered about that but the vin in Bobvin, does it have any relationship to wine. For those that dont know wine is vin in French.

I would gladly take mid 50 ' s but it's still two months away.

Wife doesn't ride anymore due to spine issues and it's unfortunate.

For your European vacation I would suggest Sault at the base of Mont-Ventoux in the south of France. Amazing riding around there.

Knocked out 41 miles yesterday. Joined up with Portland Velo. Big club, lots of riders. Nice that they have 5 groups - an 'open' group for those who can pound out at 23+ mph, a 20-23 mph group, 18-20, 16-18, and 14-16. Since I had a weak year last year overall, and since this year is still young, I opted only for the 16-18 group yesterday. Rather be off the front than off the back. A little 10 mile stretch of hills and rollers in the middle of the ride, nothing more than a 6.5% grade, the rest flats. But a nice 15mph headwind came up just to keep it real. Overall avg 16 what with the 1500' of verticle and the headwind. The 40 miles was about 10 longer than I've done yet this year, so I was getting a little gassed at the end.

I see myself joining this crew for the Saturday morning ride frequently, with a goal of moving up to the 20-23mph group by summer. Maybe by summers end I can back to form and ride the open group.

Great Job.getting back is hard.have not ridden all week.florida riders will not ride in the 50's.i hit the gym with the weights and trx.
No substitute for good miles, like you had!

Well went riding outside today in a balmy and sunny 17°F on the cx bike :) . Man it was fun. Riding in snow is a challenge on two front, staying rubber down and keeping momentum. It's a good full body workout let me tell you . Tried doing hill repeats but we were digging in snow too much.

Overall nice to have a respite from the cold and lack of sunshine.

You guys are seriously guilting me to get back on 2 wheels. Haven't been on a saddle in about a month now, due to work schedule and laziness! I will pay for it for sure when the season gets going again.

Ride on!

Allen,

Spring is just around the corner. Ride on brother, ride on!

Two annual tradition continue: Yes to Battenkill, Cat 4 40+ age group. And again had the flu which morphed in bronchitis, ear and throat infection.

Felt pretty strong before the flu caught on, will see when I get back on the bike.

Anything planned for you Doug this year? Anybody else for that matter
