D'Agostino Integrated

Mike
It is a beautiful unit. I thought seriously about trading in my mono blocks and selling the Ayre and just going with the integrated. Just simplifying. As of now I am reconsidering the pre-amp and giving that another try.

I highly recommend it! Just leave everything on 24/7. I'm noticing a nice improvement doing so.

I had been wanting to hear the integrated and see how close it was to the separates but after switching from the stereo amp to the monos - I just couldn't go back. A LOT bigger difference than I ever thought. Escpecially at lower volumes.

The preamp sounds amazing. Let us know what you think. I went from the Ayre KXR to the dag pre. Again - I wouldn't go back.

Looking at the drawing on the top of the page I just hoped they got rid of the "fat Breguet hand" needle!
No way: they stick to it as tight as a leech to a baby's skin! And if, at least, it would ressemble a Breguet hand, but it just looks like Whoopy Goldberg impersonating Naomi Campbell. Yuk!

Definitely some of the Best looking gear out there today. I would love to be able to hear one someday.

Yes it is absolutely gorgeous, I think it is THE best looking gear out there. I have only heard it once (pre and stereo amp) with the new Sasha's, the sound was awesome, My vote for best sound at the Montreal show.

Jim - So, it doesn't sound like it met your expectations?

Mike
I hope I didn't give that impression. I liked it a lot. The issue is do I want to go from the mono blocks and current Ayre KX-R to the new integrated or swap out the KX-R at some point for the D'Agostino pre. It would be a lot less expensive if I went with the integrated and I would eliminate two boxes and two power cords but would have to pick up a 22' Transparent Reference cable to run from my phono stage to the integrated amps location. If I didn;t have the mono blocks I probably would have jumped at the opportunity.

Thx for the clarification Jim. It is a very impressive looking integrated and I'm glad it sounds great as well.

Integrated was tested in the latest issue of the German magazine Stereoplay.

Total points - 64.

Stereoplay's reference, and yes the price is €49000.

Others on their best list:
Ayre AX-5 - 61
T+A PA 3000 HV - 61
McIntosh MA 8000 - 61
ARC VSi 75 - 60
ASR Emitter 2 Exclusive - 60
Devialet 170 - 60
Accuphase E 460 - 59
Sim Moon 700i - 58

There are high end electronics and there are Veblen electronics; a €50k integrated is the later.
