I agree, “better safe than sorry.” While we hope for the best, we prepare for the worst.

We added to our CV supply today as well. Even found some Lysol disinfectant at Costco - limit of 2 per person. Plenty of toilet paper, gloves, tissues, and bottled water ... as well.

PS: I’ve stopped purchasing CDs for a while as well. We don’t know who is touching all the stuff we receive in the mail. Downloads are much safer right now ...

I anticipated this years ago and stopped buying CDs then. I find streaming safer than downloads. FWIW.

Respectfully, water is a necessary staple of life. While I’m not concerned about the water supply being contaminated, since I live in Florida we always keep extra on hand. So, we are just adding more to our supply now. Why? My wife, a teacher at a school, will be using bottled water at work instead of filling up her cup using the school’s tap from a fountain. I also think my neighbors and other visitors may feel more comfortable drinking bottled water than tap from our frig - I know I would.

Concerning CDs, it’s just not the CDs. There is the packaging - two weeks ago there was a used newspaper in the box from Japan. And there is the tape. And it’s the box itself passing thru many hands. Many of my SACDs are imported, so they pass thru even more hands. Since it was stated in one report that the virus can live on a surface for up to 13 days, I’d rather be safe than sorry.

So, if you desire to think I’m over reacting, so be it. IMO, it doesn’t hurt to take some precautions.

I’m increasingly concerned being here in Seattle.

My wife is a pediatric nurse, they just secured entry to any visitor who is not the primary parent/custodian.

A lot of of my friends are now working from home, traffic and restaurants seem to be slowing down because of it. Our industry trade show in Boston was canceled within 2 weeks of kick off.

Throw in my factory workers at a fish plant, and production stops along with many other examples; flight attendants, first responders, etc.

I’m not worried about me, but do now question others - this is becoming more and more crazy!

It is possible. Mortality rate in Italy is much greater @ over 5%. Those #s are definately real.

Wow, that escalated quickly ! Same happened in Italy.

I told my kids to stay at home till the end of the week. My doughter goes to the same class with the minister of health's son, and he have sent her a text message today that the schools will be closed starting from Monday anyway.

Meanwhile, my wife got sick. Hope it is not a coronavirus. That would be ironic.

agree, things are tense.

this is real world sh*t.

at the dealership i manage (10 miles south of the USA epicenter of COVID-19 at that rest home in Kirkland) my office manager texted me last night that a student at the school her daughter goes to has a confirmed case of COVID-19, which means her school is cancelled. it also could mean her daughter came in direct contact, and that she came in contact, and........

i will know more this morning when we talk again. i may not see her for awhile.

another employee's father works at a dealership in Kirkland that had 2 confirmed COVID-19 cases and that dealership was closed for 4 days for a deep cleaning. and now she is out ill and wants to return to work. we are developing a number of protocols to deal with how to allow people who go home ill to be able to return. it's a sticky wicket; which will need quarantine and which don't. they can't/won't test everyone, and who has come in contact with who?

doing repeated cleaning in the dealership daily, and tonight we will do a whole building sanitizing 'fog' treatment.

the freeways are sparse, like a Sunday morning. normally it's grid lock all the time.
 
I'd like to formally extend my apologies to Calvin (Joe) regarding my reply to his post about the news media yesterday with respect to the COVID-19 outbreak. I posted a reply about Dr. Anthony Fauci that was factual, but several members may have only read my reply, and thus, may have formed an assumption that Joe had made inaccurate statements about Dr. Fauci, which he did not.

Upon reflection, I could have written that post in a way that represented where I was obtaining my information from Dr. Fauci's statements made on television media in a way that wouldn't have resulted in any mis-interpretation, so that was my bad on my part.

He created this post to help inform people with respect to information about this outbreak and I fully support his efforts in that.

So, with that, I sincerely extend my apologies to Joe and to any folks that may have mis-interpreted his, or my, post.

Growth of COVID-19 cases as of today, March 10. COVID-19 is now entering an exponential phase of spread in the U.S. This matches exactly its epidemiological spread in other countries that are in this phase:
