My three-year old daughter always insists I extend and open/close my arms while saying "chomp chomp!" whenever she hears someone say, "shark".

So I went to register and it turns out I actually did it two months ago. No idea how that happened. Perhaps it was the Johnnie Walker Blue.

Anyway, I've been lurking for a few weeks and decided that I like what I see/read. I'm looking forward to engaging with this community.

I'm waiting for an Allnic L3000 to arrive, and sold Ayre KX-R Twenty and Pass Labs XA60.5. I was planning to go preamp-less, but couldn't resist a good deal on a L3000. I guess I need to find out whether or not a tube preamp adds something distinctive to my system.
 
What didn't you like about the Ayre KXR 20. I haven't heard it yet, but I've read that it's great.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone.

Jock, I don't have anything critical to say of the Ayre pre as it truly is a wonderful preamp; I just wanted to go the DAC-to-amp route...that is until a preamp (L3000) that I've wanted in the past surfaced after I sold the Ayre. So I'll give it a go with another preamp and see if it's significantly better than going direct from DAC (Bricasti M1). Since I only have one source, the preamp has to significantly add something to the sound quality of my system, otherwise it's just sunk cost (to me).

yeah, you would think so. I once thought the same. But I've tried to go DAC to amp on several occasions and frustratingly I've always found the system sounds better with a preamp. Others have often reported similar findings.
