Bricasti M28???

Brian,

You should suggest to Brian Zolner to re- think the way he protects the amplifier, as it is , it's really an 8 ohm drive amplifier, since most 8 ohm nominal speakers will sometimes see 4 ohm or below as z-min or via phase angles. A 4 ohm nominal loudspeaker could see z-min below 2 ohm for the same reasons. At this price point not being able to Drive a 2ohm load past 10-11 amps is a let down and i can see customers having issues with this if the amp should shut Down on them, not to mention it has been my experience , amplifiers which are over protected like this, tend to sound , well , polite and restricted. This could be what Fremer is alluding to.

Aside, the test measurements by JA, showed a well designed amp into 8/4 ohm , excellent as a matter of fact , not sure why Bricasti would chose to limit such an amplifier like this ...

Regards..

+1

Hey Brian, you having another melt down yet? LMAO!

For Ted B, re: "I am praying I can get the amps and DAC in for review."

Get in where for review?

Get inhouse for review (I guess I don't understand your question). Brian confirmed it and I will be getting the M28's and an M1. :)

I look forward to both evaluating them for personal use as well as reviewing them as a system. I will update when they arrive. The M1 will be a great addition to the DACs I've reviewed (and the Chord 2Qute is shipping today).

Sorry - didn't realize you were a reviewer.....

Am much looking forward to your assessment.
From a (very ) short listening opportunity, I thought they were terrific.

I own 2 M28 and I can said that the Stereophile report is not honnest at all! These amps are certainly the most transparent I never experience in my life. I will make a better description in a new post (I am travelling).

Confirmed - I'm pleased to announce that Brian Zolner of Bricasti Design will be here on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 1 to 5pm each day, speaking about and demonstrating the M28 amplifiers and M1 DAC. Space is limited, so RSVPs are encouraged. Refreshments provided. For details and to reserve a spot please call or email me. Demonstrations are available at other times by appointment.

How does one sign up or RSVP to the Bricasti M28 demo weekend?
Do you know what cabling and speakers you will be demoing with?
I would likely fly in on Saturday and return Sunday evening if possible. I will be traveling from Minneapolis, MN.

Please email me ([email protected]) and I'll send you directions, etc. You'll want to fly to O'Hare, not Midway. My phone number is 773-809-4434.

The system will consist of Aurender W20 and N10 music servers, Atma-Sphere MP-1 preamplifier, Kuzma Stabi Reference turntable with 4Point tonearm and CAR-50 cartridge, AMR CD-77.1 CD player, Sound Lab Ultimate-1PX loudspeakers, and Teo Audio and Clarity Cable cabling and accessories.

I would spend the evening/sleep in Naperville.
Would flying in to Midway be too far away?
The flights look to be pretty reasonable right now...

Midway is fine. I was assuming you would be coming from the airport, in which case O'Hare is much closer. From Naperville it's easiest to come up I-355.

Since you're making a trip for this I can see what additional listening accommodations we can provide for you if you like.

I own a pair of M28's and I have been extremely pleased and continually impressed. I have found them to be stellar in every regard. I read the stereophile review but have to say my experience has been a little to contrary. I've had the amps now for 3 or 4 months but even in the first week, I found there to be very little audible change in terms of break in. My amps had approximately 30 hours on them I was told from the manufacture prior to my receipt of them. But otherwise, my experience has echoed that of everyone else who has posted here on this thread. The dynamic range, transparency and musicality of these amps is second to none. I have found the transient response to be very sharp with an exacting accuracy. The review mentioned a soft competent and while I haven't spent time with the Solution 710, that comment has left me scratching my head. Nonetheless, I have positive encouragement as an owner to give these babies a listen for yourself.

Setup: Wadia s7i, Bricasti M1 DAC, Bricast M28's, ATC SCM100ASLT (passive), Kimber Select Copper/Silver Hybrid Interconnects & Speaker, Kimber Select Silver AES/EBU and Kimber Palladian Power Cables.

I have each amp on an isolated 20 amp circuit home run back to my main panel with number 8's trying to maximize power availability at the source.

I am ready to pull the trigger on a pair of M28s to pair with my M1.
What would you compare their sound to? I am currently running a Class A Luxman and have been pretty happy with it, though it does not offer a ton of power. I do like the bit of warmth it offers. Please elaborate on its sound for me if you would. Much appreciated!
i attended AXPONA but completely missed the demo with Brian from Bricasti...bummer.

I would make you hear them first. I heard them at Axpona and was not impressed and either was Michael Fremer. Caution is always good.

To me, it sounds like solid state. A little like Soulution. Not warm in my opinion.

What speakers do you have?

Sonus Faber Guarneri Evolutions in Walnut.
i run things off of a dedicated 20 amp line for amplifier and a 15 amp line for digital source which is Bryston BDP-2 and Bricasti M1. Thoughts on this pairing?

OMG I love those speakers.

Best pairing....hmmm....

How big is your room? My gut is saying Pass XA100.8's with a Lampi Big 7 with volume control and an Aurender N100H. If you don't want tubes, then Pass XA100.8's and M1. I presume you are trying to avoid a separate preamp?

I have never been a fan of Pass Labs. I think the aesthetic turns me off as I know the engineering and sound is good. Just too much for my tastes. My room is 12x16 with 10' ceiling. Dedicated room with single listening chair and Acoustic Geometry absorbsion for first reflection points and a Stillpoints Apeture Panel behind my listening position.

Hmmm...I like the looks. OK, well, let's see...what about McIntosh? A pair of 275's would be pretty sweet on those Evos.
