Blues Music Only | What's Playing Now | Any Music Mediums: LP - CD/SACD - BD - DVD...

The SACDs are better. But the CDs have nothing to be ashamed of. And APO is a great Blues music record label. ...Now we're talking; Blues baby, right on!

* Lightnin' Hopkins - check him too on Audio Fidelity record label (Hybrid SACD).
Where did u get the SACD's? APO said they were not released yet..and did not know when they would be? Thanks!

Lloyd, I didn't say Lightnin' Hopkins on the APO label and on SACD. ...APO SACDs are better still than the CDs, which are excellent to start with. - And I said to check him (Hopkins) on the Audio Fidelity (SACD) record label. ...As a special (*) mention.

I think you simply assumed that he was also on SACD from the APO record label.

* In rereading the few posts myself I now understand the small confusion; and I too could have assume the same as you.
Sorry for the lack of precision.

Thanks...I guess when I read your response that 'the SACDs are better', I thought you were addressing my post which immediately preceded yours and was about those 3 Lightnin' Hopkins albums. No matter...I am looking forward to getting the releases from APO! And yes, agree APO is a great label!

Cool, we're on the same page now, and sorry again; you were right to assume the way you did.
We're on the same side of the lp...even though I'm really a redbook cd guy which means there is only 1 side! Hah!

Good point! How come they don't make CD/SACDs with the side B on the flipping side?
Because unlike an LP a silver disc can have several layers, and can be read by a laser changing its aperture (laser's wavelength).
Try that with a vinyl! :D

I love turntables, and seeing them rotating around in circles, but I'm not in love with people still using them for serious listening! ;)

I'm just kidding; the imperfect analogue world is as pleasant as a pheasant deploying its wings.
And some of the best lovers are analogue people (Evange, Rob, Jack, Dave, Matt, John, Doug, Christian, Dev, Mike Lavigne, ...).

You're right...in a way, you could an A side and a B side on the SAME side on a CD. Instead of the SACD layer, could you put another redbook layer? probably not if it all ties back to the wavelength? ie you can get different wavelength layers on one CD...but not multiple layers of the SAME wavelength on one side? hunh...anyone actually know the answer to this?

- You have some DVD-18 - with dual layers and dual sides ('Ben-Hur' - 'Superman' - ...).
- You have some HD DVD - with dual sides (combo) and one layer per side (one for HD and the other for standard DVD). ...Warner Brothers, Universal. ...So they you can play the DVD side in all DVD players, without the need of an HD DVD player.
- You have some DVD-Audio - with dual sides and one layer per side (hi-res stereo and multichannel on one side and compressed audio on the other, or on the same side as the HR one). ....So that you can play them in all DVD-Video players, without the need of a DVD-Audio player. ...But without access to the hi-res audio tracks.
- You have SACD - with dual layers and one side (one layer for PCM and the other for DSD stereo and multichannel).
- You have Blu-ray - (BD-50) with dual layers (one side). ...And you have Blu-ray Video (all BD movies), and Blu-ray Audio only.
- You have LP - with dual sides (one layer).
- You have Tape - with dual or quad or multiple tracks, and double sides (reverse).

* A long time ago they were talking about a Blu-ray disc with several layers (3D rainbow), like with ten layers, and even more.
In one single Blu-ray you could have an entire encyclopedia, or ten seasons of your favorite TV show, or ten, twenty movies, and all in hi-res and hi-def.

Today we live in a digital download world where the physical audio/video mediums are fast becoming extinct.
...And with the remnants of a nostalgic world that we cannot abandon just yet. ...We love our old habits; they became part of our rituals and life's routines, of who we are and what we believe in.
So much so that we rather denounce the new digital world in favor of keeping our old analogue one. ...And with our eyes and ears closed!

The beauty in our audio hobby is our freedom to choose our preferred medium(s). ...And that, is truly what's best. ...Rock-&-Roll will never die.

And the damage in our beautiful and passionate audio hobby is the disrespect, the unacceptable disproportions, the unreasonable values, and the lost of common sense.

It's like we chose a hobby with dual sides and dual layers; it can provide beautiful clean cuts from one side, and it can also be quite bloody from the other side, with less than sharp a blade.

Today we have multiple terabytes on hard drives, we have music servers, we have USB connections, HDMI, and analogue turntables with side A and side B.

I just put this one on the ''what are you listening to tonight thread'' but I guess this is thread is more fitting.
So here I go again:
I.M.O. the best audiophile jazz influenced blues album of 2013.
The two Robert Johnson covers are incredible. ''Love in vain'' has been transformed into a Jazz ballad but managing to keep the feel of longing and desperation intact.
You can listen to the mp3 except here: Carmen Gomes Inc - Torn (SE)
What do you think?:)

Thanks for sharing that; it is a big part of my music bag (preference) of love. ...Stuff that I'm ready to die for!

I love it! ...Smooth just the way life was meant to be at the beginning of the universe creation and ever after.

Thanks a big bunch in helping me to spend my hard earned dollars in the most wise and rewarding and pleasurable way. :audiophile:

You just brought me closer to heaven! ...And right here on Earth, before I die and on my way to paradise alley.

And this, is only one reason why it's worthwhile major big time to frequent audio forums. :)

There is no bigger sharing than the music itself. ...Available to us all, poor souls, rich people, and everyone else between.
It makes us all equal. ...Just the way it should everywhere on our planet. ...No more wars and all that bs crap but only love.
