Bizarre Lumin S1 bug

Played the Xbox some, turned it off, still no issues with the S1. While I can't definitively state the issue is fixed, it is at least 1000% less likely.

Why the Xbox One affects it is bizarre.

In view of specific network device compatibility issues, I recently integrated a major upgrade of the UPnP protocol stack into Lumin firmware 7.03 beta, hopefully this improves things.

It certainly seems to have improved the operation. I haven't seen the issue yet. I will fire up the Xbox again a little later for a second test.

Thank you for the help.

I think it is this. I don't have a Lumin but a different UPnP renderer. The UPnP client I use sometimes exhibit the same symptoms as Bud describes.

The Berkeley Alpha REF DAC is really a solid 10/10 for redbook and high res PCM. It's the best I've heard for redbook and PCM. The S1 I would give it a 9.5/10. I'm surprised just how close it is.

This is very nice to know. Especially when you consider the Lumin plays PCM and DSD, and is both a file player and a DAC. This means that one does not need to buy a power cord for the DAC (Berkeley), and an interconnect cable between the file player and DAC. In my world, this is a minimum $5k savings. Simplicity succeeds and complexity fails.

Bud - Glad the you've identified the problem.

Mike - Thx for your perspective on the Lumin S-1 and the Berkeley Ref. This is the DAC I would buy if I was looking to for digital separates.

Lol. How did I miss this? Yes it is, virtual Friday. I have a two week shutdown between Xmas and New Year. Which is plenty of time to break something.

I'm going to ship my Lumin L1 to you today to play with.

Happy Holidays Mike!

So you bypass USB entirely?

Ken

Merry Christmas! I prefer AES/EBU from Aurender or SPDIF BNC from Lumin. Berkeley doesn't have USB on the DAC. You have to use the Berkeley Alpha USB if you want to use USB. Another box, another cable. The USB is really just to placate those still using a Mac or PC. I prefer AES/EBU direct from the Aurender or BNC SPDIF from the Lumin instead of USB from Aurender to Alpha USB and then from the Alpha USB to the Berkeley Alpha Reference DAC.

Hi Mike.
I am basically 16/44.
I understand that his views on quality in PCM, are on the connection between Lumin and Berkley for SPDIF, either was higher among Aurender and Berkley by USB.
I hope you tell me that the SPDIF connection, was very bad, because just like Buefox, I've done the (silly) firm intention not to buy Heard in 2016

Any complaint about my English, please send them Google Translate team

Well, after installing the beta firmware I haven't had this issue. So far it is working as expected. Good job.
