Beautiful speakers...

Rockport is my favorite speaker brand bar none. One day soon, I hope....

Cyril, one of these days when I make it back to Boston,I'm going to listen to Rockports. They have always been on my must audition list. My beautiful wife works for Fidelity Inv. and is in Boston a lot. I need to go with her again and make an appointment at Goodwins to hear their speakers !!

I owned the Rockport Mira 2s and loved them. Sometimes I move on just for the sake of moving on (not always a wise choice, for sure), but I hope that I will own another pair of Rockports in the future. One of my all time favorite lines.

Joe. I think we need to make a trip to the local dealer in NYC and listen to a pair.

The Best Stereo System I’ve Ever Heard
Robert Harley
I’ve heard quite a number of very ambitious playback systems over the years, but none as good as the system I experienced last week in Rockport, Maine. I was visiting the factory (actually, it’s more like a craft shop) of loudspeaker manufacturer Rockport Technologies and spent about two hours with their top-of-the-line Arrakis loudspeaker. Rockport founder Andy Payor also took me through the other speakers in the line, and explained to me the design and construction techniques behind his loudspeakers.
The $165,000 Arrakis is a four-way system employing two side-firing 15" woofers, two 8" upper-bass drivers, two 5.25" midrange drivers, and a dome tweeter. All the drivers except the tweeter use Rockport’s proprietary cone technology which feature proprietary, variable-section thickness cones formed from skins of carbon fiber that sandwich a Rohacell core.

Bruce...I am not a big fan of those guys. Have you dealt with them a lot. I have had only one experience with them quite a few years back but the arrogance level was through the roof.

Mark...you should. Great speakers and great dealer. I used to be the Industrials Equity Analyst at Putnam Inv. what does your wife do for Fidelity?

+1 on what Cyril said! I made the mistake of going there!

I listened to the Rockport Aviors at Goodwin's. They are phenomenal. I'm in Bar Harbor, Maine now, and Goodwin suggested that could arrange it such that as I drove up there, I could visit their factory to see my speakers being built. How cool would that have been! If my wife gave me the green light, I would have them already.:( I hope one day I do own the Aviors. I can see them being my exit speakers...

I'm up for it sometime. I can't wait to hear your Studio2's.

Cyril. No comment. :peace:

Bruce...understood.

Those Mira 2s look really nice. I wish I could have taken them off your hands at the time we talked earlier in the year. Ah well!

There are many beautiful speakers about.
To me, these are beautiful in both looks and performance:

Paradigm Studio 100s V5 in Rosenut. Pics don't do them justice. The pics aren't very good as they were rushed. You can find bigger pics on line. Yes, these are mine.:D:audiophile: Yes, I tend to be somewhat nervous around them because they are super expensive to me and took 2 years of severe effort to get. I'll never do that again.

First three that came to mind...

Ah the Focals. I call them the "hey, who broke the speakers" speakers.:P
The Nautilus ones look like alien ears blowing in the wind. I'd be curious to hear those though.

Cyril....Someone is a happy listener. The guy couldn't wait to get them home.

As a McIntosh guy, I've always loved the looks of the XR290s, and they remain one of the most impressive speakers I have ever heard!
