Another Hypex NC-500 based amp unveiled

The switching noise is completely cancelled out in the amps. Show me where the switching noise is?

You crack me up .... :)

Just a bit of playful banter :)

If you order some here's what I recommend starting out with to play with for opamps:

Sonic imagery 994's:

http://www.sonicimagerylabs.com/products/Model994DiscreteOpAmp-Ticha.html

Sparko Labs SS3602's:

http://sparkoslabs.com/product/discrete-op-amp-ss3602/

Burson Audio Supreme v5 duals:

http://www.bursonaudio.com/products/supreme-sound-opamp-v5/

Audio GD Earth, Sun and moon dual's:

http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/diy/OPA/OPAEN.htm

LM4562 Dip 8 IC opamp:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/LM4562-Dual-HiFi-Audio-OpAmp-AUTHENTIC-LM4562NA-DIP-8-/160496917340

You need 2 of each. If you buy all of these, you will have 7 different amps to play with right off the bat, and will only cost you a couple hundred bucks! However the possibilities are endless. Especially if you want to get into using single to dual adapters.

Thanks for the listing of opamps, Mike. Question, what is the additional, single wire on the audio-gd op amps? Is that a ground wire?....is it used with the NC-500 amps or is that for a different application?

Thanks.

No problem. It's just an optional grounding wire for super tweakers to play with. It is already grounded through the DIP 8 pinout, but it can be grounded to a more solid ground plane if desired if it's replacing an opamp on a board that has a poor ground plane implementation.

I should buy one of these amps just so I can do my own comparisons.

But I can think of better things to buy - like more vinyl!

Mike, I have a pair of the NORD monoblocks in house. I just started their break-in, so it may be a few weeks before they are ready for a serious audition. But you are welcome to demo them, once broken in. ;)

Any initial impressions?

I just plugged them in about an hour ago... Sounded decent out of the box.....with a hint of boom on stand up bass. But the cuts being played have a bit too much bass IMO anyway. So no real opinion yet. I am going to let them play for a few hours, then listen for a bit later tonight.

What input boards did you get?

Congratulations Jerry, awesome news. I am looking forward to your thoughts.

I want to try pairing them up with some JBL 4425 cabinets i got coming. Might prove to be a punchy combination. I too am trying to avoid buying a pair of the M2's. But I do have a bad itch.

Jerry

If you want to try either or both of the other Op Amp choices you can buy direct from Sparkos and SI on Ebay.
