Never heard a 400 , but a 400/400 setup and i was told by other devialet owners it was night and day to a single 400 , so you may want to go back and try again ...
1000 is a bit disingenuous wouldnt you say , you already pointed us to one at 4600 and no dac or pre amp features as the devialet
anyway best you compare 400/400 vs 500/500, i believe we were comparing and discussing sonics ...
Nord's standard NC-500 dual monoblocks are under $2000 a pair.
Again price is not being consodered we are discussin sonics , to do so you should have compared 400/400 , those with single units told me the single was disappointing and no satisfaction until they went to 400/400 ...
Also if you never level matched then its not really valid , the non clipping amp and or louder played amp will sound better ...
Really i thought you were going to use the ratios as mola mola ....![]()
Really i thought you were going to use the same ratios as mola mola ....
Im saying its a bogus comparision , compare both in mono config and you didnt say what software and or setup configuration the devialet were being ran in and less clear the air on this , i really don't care which sounds better , but you need to validate your absolute statements , how was this comparison done and did you guys level match , this kind of info is important for the rest of us , seeing we weren't there ...
Where can i get NC500/500 for 1K ..?
No you said yours cost 1K ....who has nc500's for 1K
I should buy one of these amps just so I can do my own comparisons.
But I can think of better things to buy - like more vinyl!

Now Mike, why do that when you can simply speculate that all Class-D amps suck?
I thought we all sharks frowned upon speculation as to sonics without actual experience around here? Maybe not so with something as vile as Class-D though? Oh wait, maybe it's the price point thermometer....after all, the Devialet threads were non stop last year on the shark but that product line runs from $8k-$20k for entry.
What am I thinking?.....higher prices ALWAYS equate to better sound quality.
