Announcing the NEW Aurender N20

... Are SSDs much more reliable that spinning drives or just faster?

An SSD that is mostly just written to and read (as opposed to frequent erasing and re-writing) should last even longer! Although the best price I can find for a Samsung 8TB SSD is about $900

In a SSD, even though a user might delete a file, it may not actually get deleted in the background until the space is needed. Controller FW algorithm will manage that.

The N20 is an appealing component with the numerous upgrades from the N10 and the ability to add 16 TB of SSD storage.

I always wondered what happens if a person were to rip his/her entire CD collection using the Aurender ripper and storage and then decides to change to another brand. Can the entire library with all metadata be transferred to a non-Aurender device and used by that device? I would assume it can but just curious.

PS. Just watched the video and it looks as if the storage is not included with the unit. In that case, I guess that one can just sell the unit and keep the drives.

Correct and correct.

If you upgrade to a N20 and had enabled MQA on your N10 do you lose that and need to repurchase? Also are all the outputs live simultaneously? Thanks

I recently got aurender n20 and currently feeding esoteric k-01xd via usb. Have fiber optic > sotm > English electric 8s > ENO acoustic to aurender n20. I can say without doubt n20 is amazing in all aspects. Before this I had antipodes CX > S30. It was good for sure, but seemed more digital. Don't know how to explain, but I feel aurender n20 to be more natural and organic in addition to being dynamic and resolving. I will try using spdif output to esoteric k-01xd by next week.
Also waiting for arrival of esoteric g-02x masterclock to be connected to k-01xd and aurender n20. Can't imagine how much more better it can get, when it is already sounding outstanding.

I certainly agree. The N20 is a significant upgrade from the former N10 in all aspects. It's a very high end source and our top choice here for the most demanding systems and clients since the introduction earlier this year. The build quality and wonderful display also makes this a very solid product that breathe quality.

I'm looking forward to explore the masterclock option as well, which is a new feature and possibility that was only available with the W20(SE) until now.

Great. Let me know which master clock you will be using and you findings.
On the other note, I am now using SPDIF (BNC > RCA): Gosh, incredible. No noise at all. You realize the noise in USB when you switch immediately. There might be a very tiny bit less bass, but overall tonality and sonic character of SPDIF is much better. I see how aurender website and even their tech support guys were boasting about using SPDIF to explore full potential of N20. Their build quality, looks, support is all top notch.

Ok, I am now using Aurender N20 with esoteric G-02X masterclock: The improvement in sound is very noticeable. Most noticeable is in the mids and highs with improved clarity and some sparkle. The image focus is also better. It takes the streamer to another level. Kudos to aurender.

Yep. It's killer. So impressed. Going to start writing my review tomorrow for TAS.

I agree, Marcus. One of the things I really like about the Aurender is how simple and fast it is to take it out of the box, set it up, and be streaming content to it....in minutes. I think it took me all of 8 minutes from the time I took it out of the box to when I was streaming content from it to my DAC. It's "design integration" is superb.

The N20 is a great digital streamer and music player. Wait until you hear the N30SA!
