AMG v12 TURNTABLES

Anyone have a dustcover over the table? What are the dimensions of it?

I had a dustcover made.

Vpi Prime, Vpi Classic & AMG Turntable Covers Table Top & Hinged covers SHIPPED | Turntables | Grand Rapids, Michigan 49505 | Audiogon - The High-end Audio Community

It was a first, so on second try, the height could be reduced 3 inches from what I got. I didn't want it to cover the HRS stand, but we didn't reduce the height. It still serves the purpose and is high quality.

Since this thread is active today let me say that the AMG with the DS Audio Cart was absolutely phenomenal at Axpona in the SF/ARC room. I heard the AMG last year in Mick's same SF/ARC room but his year was even better! (I don't remember last years cart.)

I also really enjoyed hearing the AMG V12 table in Mick's room. In fact, it was my favorite room. No matter what genre of music they played and no matter how many times I came back, the room always sound terrific! The entire system had great synergy, I thought. The Sonus Faber speakers looked absolutely beautiful too. Here are a few pic's from the show...

Thanks NR, nice pics.

I spoke to Mick today and he attributed at least part of the performance to the DS Audio Cart. As he put it "these speakers are half the price of what we used last year and the sound was at least as good." I was also very impressed by this carts a/b comparisons to the Goldfinger on a two arm Innovation with the Magico M's. Silent background, fast and linear.

They want dimensions from me. What dimensions is yours?
I recommend you wait until you get the turntable. The usual set up is to put the table at an angle. Also, you won't know where the cables are until you see it.

Thanks Paul. It certainly is an exciting time to be in audio...that's for sure!

I was told by HRS that it is important to put the v12 straight not angled on the hrs platform given weight distribution.

Yeah, I would love to hear that DS cartridge on my AMG or Kronos.

If they stick around and you stick with the DS it becomes a pretty good deal as it comes with its own phono-stage. very interesting indeed.

The science is certainly compelling. I was extremely impressed. It has some of the benefits of the strain gage like speed and exceptional dynamics but better linearity and none of the RIAA controversy.

I almost jumped on board and ordered it back in January without hearing it, but I got cold feet. They are starting to warm up again!

Paul, this could be the answer for you regarding what phono-stage to go for - none!

Don't be shy Mark - I'd be happy to take it for an extended demo for you... with dinner thrown in. You know you can't refuse.

So I have an AMG V12 in bound from my (Shark) dealer. How are you guys who've owned it for a year or more finding life with that table / tone-arm? Have any of you been using the Teatro cartridge for an extended period of time and can compare it with other cartridges?

I've been using the AMG with the Lyra Etna and Lyra Erodion SUT. I also own a Teatro. My dealer will switch it in a couple of weeks for me so I can hear it for a few months. Since I own both, I might as well switch every now and then. I REALLY liked the Teatro on a Rega P3 that I borrowed for a month, so I'm expecting it to obviously be better on the v12.

I have 2 other SUTs, so between the three, one of them should be compatible with the Teatro. That's the key.

My Shindo preamp has an internal SUT for MC cartridges, but it's designed for a very low output SPU cartridge and is not as compatible with higher output cartridges.

Table/Tonearm is outstanding.

Bay St. Broker,
I love my Viella. No issues whatsoever and it's a joy to use. Last year I added the twin armboard and the AMG 9" to the stock villa w/v12" arm.
You will appreciate the build quality as you set it up.
No experience at all with the teatro I'm afraid.
Congrats.
Chris

Have had mine for over a year running with 12" arm and Benz LP-S. Very musical and trouble free. Love the cuing mechanism.
