Alexias on order!

Mike (Ritmo)...sorry you are travelling today but thanks for getting the pics to Mike and having him post them for us. Very nice and clean set-up. I am sure once everything breaks in and settles you will be in sonic nirvana. Enjoy!

First of all, thanks Mike for posting the pictures.

Thanks everyone for your notes. As you can see, the Alexias with the D'Agostino and several Shunyata cables (Anaconda and Alpha) were installed yesterday. We finished a little late and did not get much of a chance to post comments and pictures. To say that I'm very happy would be an understatement. :audiophile:

I'll be back home later in the week in what promises to be a great weekend for listening. More to come ...

Thx!

They are installed! Finished a little while ago. Unfortunately, I have to pack for my early morning trip. Will find a way to post pictures tomorrow.

How do I like them? Love them! They sound fantastic with the D'Agostino amp. And, they look great along with the rest of the system.

Mike,

Great to know that you are already enjoying them. Please remember that some of us are expecting some details about the process of setting up the Alexia's - pictures will not not be enough! :)

I do have pictures as boxes were opened and amp and speakers were removed and setup Will post that later as well as comments on setup.

This is my first Wilson Audio speakers. I can tell you that packaging, tools, manuals, fit and finish are first class. Also, the setup and care from the guys at Audio Concepts was first class as well. Other speaker companies need to learn on the attention to detail that is part of the Wilson Audio brand. Also, the assurance that the speakers are setup by associates that are trained in the process is a huge plus.

Thx!

Big +1

I spent a good 6 hrs yesterday afternoon/evening listening to the my new Alexias and D'Agostino. Oh what a heavenly experience!

More red to come today and this weekend...

Mike - I'm so happy for you. I know you were really diligent in your research (I was there with you at RMAF) as we listened to a few things together. Your trips to dealers and such to hear different things is all part of the important process of auditioning for yourself. You definitely made a wonderful selection and I think the synergy between the D'Agostino amp and the REF5SE must also be great.

Enjoy your weekend with some sweet sounding tunes!

Oh, and the Alexia's will continue to get better and better as they break in. I found that after 150 hours they have plateaued. A refreshing change from the multi-thousand hour break-in I will face with the Magico's.

Maybe Debby can answer this, but I thought I had read somewhere that Wilson breaks in each driver before putting it in the cabinets. Debby?

Thanks Mike, awfully kind of you. I'm home listening some more this afternoon. Great to be home! :snicker:

Yes. We do a 12 hour burn in on all the drivers. However, this is drivers only. Does not include the crossover with all the capacitors, resisters, etc.

It does typically take a couple hundred hours for the system (not just the drivers) to really come together and blossom. They do sound great out of the crates, but sound FABULOUS with a little time ;)

Enjoy them (that goes to both of the "Alexia Mikes" here :D) !

Thanks for the insight Debby. They are sounding pretty amazing at about 20 hrs. I'm enjoying the journey...:audiophile:

I concur with the couple hundred hours where I'm about at right now. Not a big change, but everything has just come together beautifully.

I still think its cool that you work in the drivers. Every little bit helps.

It's the little things Wilson does. I should have added this to my list above.

Debby,

I am enjoying mine a lot more since burn-in ended ... In order to carry full burn-in in ten days I build these grille replicas using sound absorbing materials and operated the speakers against each other in reverse phase with mono signals every time I was not listening. Surely I adjusted volume without the grilles, I wanted to burn-in them, not to fry the speaker coils! :)
