Alexia Fever Continues!

Yes, that's Porche Titanium Brown.

jap, thanks for that. How did you come to learn the name of that color? Now I see myself visiting the Porche dealer to confirm it is as pretty as it looks.:safe:

Debby posted the info on another forum.

Sounds like you have a very understanding wife, I'd get her involved with the color choice.

I agree, the first thing that I thought of when I was reading your post was what a great wife you have !! For her to say something like that to you was very, very cool !

Get her involved in the process :woot:

I am truly blessed. I do indeed have an understanding, beautiful, and caring wife. I can't imagine my life without her.

(St. Peters Square, the Vatican... we were on a cycling vacation.)

As for the color choice—yep, she's involved. When we bought the Sashas in Candy Apple Red we had entered the dealership to buy some Sophias, new. Then we were shown a used pair of Sashas that were about 8 months old for the same price. They said "Candy Apple Red" and I thought that would be crazy... but when I saw them they actually looked pretty cool. (There are pics of my old room in my profile.) I'd go for that color again, and it would probably work well in my room, but my only complaint was that sometimes the speakers would be more "visible" than I'd want. When I put in some dim-able track lighting the problem was solved. I still want a color with a little something "extra" but not sure what it will be. That Porche Brown is a fine looking color.

That's great news Bob and congrats! I remember hearing an ARC/Wilson combo at a dealers shop one day and I still can't get that sound out of my head. What other electronics will your system have in it?

Well, I'm an ARC guy from way, way back. I had an ARC pre-amp in the 70's. After a 20 year hiatus I came back to audio and there was ARC, still cranking out tube gear and even better than I remembered. I've always wanted to go with monoblocks, so at last I will do that. It'll be a REF5SE as the pre-, and while I'm considering the move to a Ref Phono2SE, I have found a replacement for the Einstein Turntable's Choice phono-pre that I had before. The Einstein, matched with Sashas' tweeter, sometimes had a wee little bit more emphasis on the leading edge of transients than I wanted, but I'll wait until I hear it with the Alexia tweeter before I dump the Einstein, which is really a excellent phono amp. (dual-mono version.)

My turntable, of course, is an AMG v12 with a Benz LP-S cartridge. And as for DAC... there's million options and I'd hope to improve a little vs. the ARC DAC8. There are lots of choices in the DAC realm, but I don't want to spend more than a DAC8.

Cabling, I'll go Shunyata as I can afford it.

My digital source is a little fanless PC I built up just to serve my DAC.

Ugh, then (are you listening Nelson :hi:) there are the whole StillPoints tweaks to contend with! And TubeTraps, and diffusors, it just goes on and on and on with this hobby!

Bob, first, congratulations on the new pair of Alexias! You will be so happy with them!:audiophile::exciting:

Second, and more importantly, congratulations on having such a great relationship with such a great, understanding lady! She seems so very cool. Very happy for you my friend! And a great selfie, btw!;)

Bob,

Glad to see that you have made a decision to get the Alexias - huge congrats! Whatever color you go with, the Alexias will be awesome.

Your conversation with your wife reminds me of the dialog I had with mine a few months back as I wondered/questioned the sensibility of spending a lot of money on speakers and new amplification. Today, I (we) are glad with the upgrades.

The ARC gear will be great with the Alexias. :audiophile:

Keep us posted!

Bob, what color is out in front right now ?
Wifey thinks the Porsche Titanium Brown would look excellent. I did a little dirty photoshopping, my masking skills are not good. But, I was able to slap the Alexia's in Porsche Brown into my room, then did the same with my long lost candy apple red Sashas. I think either color would go, and the red certainly has that WOW factor. (Imagine there is a rug on the floor.) What do y'all think?

Man I love that red color. That's just me though. The red pops beautifully.
