About to pull the trigger on Tannoy

Paul, just took a look at your room: seriously gorgeous! The room looks like it was built for the Tannoys! Well done, sir!

Here's Paul in a couple of weeks...

You were right Doug...lmao

Your thinking may not be the only thing that's hard. :P These are beautiful Paul and may suit you better than the Shindo (did I really just say that?) You really need to listen to both of them.

What made you say that ? :D

What made you say that ? :D

Two reason really. First, I remember you visiting a guy who had Shindo gear and if I remember correctly some Devore speakers (or were they Shindo speakers, I forget), and you said that it was "nice" but seems laid back to you. Secondly, you've posted some videos recently and the music that was played was big orchestral pieces and quiet female vocals. They were very crisp and clear with lots of umph behind them. The Shindo gear might not give you what you're looking for with your taste in music.

Of course maybe that was the "old Paul" and the "new Paul" wants a kinder, gentler presentation. :)

Good point Doug. So far the 300B gives me better image and quite sweeter vocal. ( Cons : Less bass but not floppy , thinner image and stage - VS KT88 ) Got a keep listen to them next few days. :)

Yes I have seen that photo before Paul, could be you eh!

And do keep in mind, pretty entry level 300b tubes in that integrated.

amen to that my sound improved alot once the sophias were broken in. bigger deeper bass, better soundstage depth. and way better low level sonics.

that room is incredible!!!

Sounds like you're getting used to the way the 300b's do things. KT88's aren't the most musical tube out there for sure but they have their plusses too. I'll give up some bass for a sweeter sound any day.

Indeed....I'm liking on light jazz and vocal but big orchestra music I do still prefer the KT88 coz they do not require sweet sounds.

What you think ?

Paul - I was saying in Kevin's thread that KT88's are excellent general purpose tubes. That being said, there is magic in 300b's...but they aren't perfect either.

You may want to try some 845 amps. They strike a great balance between the two.

Of course, all of this is generalizations and just like anything, a 300b amp can be poorly designed and sound bad.

I would think the KT88's would be very good with big orchestra music. They're tubes right? It's all good!

Did you dump the MC601's yet?
